Today you’ll work on grip control! Begin with the Express warm up.

After that move on to the Grip control routine. Run through the routine 1 or 2 times.

Then finish with Fancy crucifix practice 2 attempts on each side and work on these 3 spins. Pole hold spin, Tuck spin, Chair spin 2 times per side.

Be sure to stretch the forearms after this session!

Responses

  1. that was impossible ! The grop control routine was way too fast , the pole hold spin and tick spin wwre equally impossinle , the chair spin was all i could do . I am really thinkinng of quitting altogether as i cant progress

  2. It’s understandable to feel frustrated its a sucky way to feel. I can offer some suggestions. Watch all routines beforehand and then give yourself at least 3 or 4 run-throughs of any routine. Otherwise easy to feel overwhelmed when following someone else. I always feel behind or overwhelmed when learning someone else’s choreography the forst time. Remember all of these are new things. I don’t expect people to do them on the first day. Level 3 starts to push the body more and some will stay at level 1 or 2 and there’s nothing wrong with them or staying there. If you’re not enjoying pole then, it’s perfectly fine to move on to something else.

  3. Thanks -I am massively frustrated as I am trying hard and feel like I am getting nowhere . I never seem to get beyond level 2 . My tiny successes are just that tiny !
If the average person can go from level 2 to level 3 then I am not that person
I love pole but I just can’t seem to progress
I feel that before I get a chance to learn a move , the emphasis is on adding to it with the assumption that I got it , when I didn’t . I tried to find teachers that would help break down a move and modify it for slow learners but had no success . They all flew ahead to the next thing
Every program went to fast for me and felt left behind with the assumption that everyone had the basics
I trained 4 days a week for 2 years and got nowhere
You are a good teacher but I have to quit
I feel gutted as I so wanted to learn but maybe I just need to accept that I am too old and too unable to do it

  4. I find flow even more difficult . Flow is really beautiful but alot more difficult than it seems .
It requires grace , strength , flexibility , coordination and a beautiful sense of rhythm , none of which I have and none of which I seem to be able to acquire
Anyways thanks . As I said you are a good teacher and you did more then your best to try and teach me

  5. Thanks – right now I can’t see an option as all online courses are too fast paced for me and don’t cater to the person who can’t do the move. In person group classes are way too disheartening
I am trying a private in person this weekend but not hopeful as all teachers although lovely are not prepared for someone who can’t grasp the basics
I attribute it to the investment in kids since the 80s with dancing , ballet , gymnastics etc
Every generation after mine had some version of that and therefore 99 percent of teachers can’t put themselves in the shoes of folks my age from poor counties who had no sports at all as children . We just had school , church and child labour !

    1. Hi! If you click on the PINK text in the description it’s a direct link to the related videos. There you’ll see what to work on to improve or work towards the chair spin ????

  6. I am concerned about my pole hold, my extended arm just cant seem to engage the bicep, in other words I don’t seem to be able to pull myself up. Something to celebrate is the chair spin though which I love, especially the reverse combo!

    1. The pole holds spin is basically like doing a pull up so I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Keep working at it. It will get stronger.
