How to choose the right grip aid [FREE]
This video will walk you through how to choose a grip aid for your pole practice. Using grip aid is not cheating, it’s about safety.
Pro tip: Skin must be tacky to grip well. Normal skin usually does just fine with a proper warm-up and any pole finish.
Dry skin needs moisture added: A mix of a grip spray click here for a recipe and Mighty grip works really well. Using grip spray or grips like itac on it’s own hasn’t worked for me. I suggest adding Mighty grip or similar powder based product because alone it just ends up greasy. Other ways to add moisture is lotion used hours before training. Corn huskers, Lubriderm and other non greasy lotions can be a game changer.
Moist skin needs moisture removed: Look for an antiperspirant based grip aid and avoid waxy products like itac. If it’s only your hands that sweat you can also try washing your hands with hot water and a degreasing soap before you pole.
Don’t forget to factor in the climate you’ll be dancing in, you might need a few different grip aids to choose from depending on where you’ll be dancing!
