Today you’ll practice a few new spins and you’ll begin to work on the twisted dismount. If you cannot yet perform a reverse handstand skip the twisted dismount for now and keep working on just the reverse handstand part of todays video.

Learning to pole dance is about you, not other people.

Pro tip: Keep breathing when you practice the twisted dismount or reverse handstand. Holding the breath can cause petechiae and this actually happened to me when I was first learning. Thankfully as mentioned in the video it was only petechiae, which are little red or purplish spots on your face, neck or chest, which will fade in a few hours or a day so below I’ve provided more information about why it happens:

  • Pressure increase: When you go upside down, gravity increases the pressure on the blood vessels in your head and face.
  • Vascular rupture: This increased pressure can cause the smallest capillaries to break and leak blood under the skin.
  • Common occurrence: This can happen from activities like headstands, handstands, or any prolonged period in an inverted position, and is considered benign in most cases. Always seek medical care if you’re concerned.

Proper breathing will prevent this!

  1. Hi! I can do handstand from invert and from the floor but the Spin Dismount is still too difficult to me because I need to practice the straddle on handstand and to find the courage to let my hips fall aside :-))

  2. Hmmm the spin dismount was so confusing for me once I got into trying it. I’ve watched the video over and over and it makes absolute sense except once I’m upside down 🤣 should I think of this as if I were trying to go into a gemini? I feel like I’m trying to get into a dolphin instead (I might be spinning in the opposite direction?)

  3. Yes, it’s like a Gemini. Remember tho, I add in moves that are just for fun too. This dismount isn’t something you have to do. If you don’t get it it’s not a big deal.

  4. great workout … I definitely need to practice the spin dismount and build more confidence with it. And once I improve my handstands I will have more energy to execute.

pole hold spin has always been a challenge. I can not seem to lift myself up due to not having enough upper body strength.

front hook spin, side spin and reverse spin were fun. however my pole keeps moving on static and I tightened it each time and will still end up loosening. I probably need someone with more muscle to tighten it for me 🤦🏽‍♀️ 🤣

stretches were great and desperately needed.

    1. Nice!! Keep working on the spin as it’s a strength builder, that’s why I added it :).

Be careful with that pole! It doubt it need more muscle to tighten it, most likely its just because it’s one of the off brand poles. They have this issue a lot. I saw someone here posted in the discussions they were selling a pole if you’re interested. It’s an xpole.

    2. Ok watched the pole hold spin video. I’m seeing what’s going on. The extended arm is kinds staying extended when it should bend so you’re using both biceps and able to contract both sides of your back/lats. Right now it’s mostly one arm doing the work. Look at what my arms are doing in the tutorial https://www.studioveena.com/tutorial/pole-hold-spin-1027/ both are bent. Practicing your pole hops focusing on the arms can help create the muscle memory for this.

    1. The top arm is still straight. Try doing some pole hops a few times focusing on bending at both elbows before trying the pole hold spin. This might help you get the movement down. Keep reminding yourself both arms need to bend so you can use the biceps.

  5. Omg day 10 done

I didn’t quite manage the spin dismount I’m still trying to get use to the hand stand 😔
But I did manage everything else loved it 😁😉

I will save the spin dismount and practice xx♥️

  6. Hi Veena! Is there a video on how to do a basic invert before I try learning the videos that are in the Spin Dismount section? I’m not sure if I skipped a section or something because I haven’t inverted on any of my prior lessons for Intermediate 1. I think I have only learned the grip for inverting.

    1. You will not be inverting at this time in the program. Inverting into the spin dismount is for more advanced students. Is there a reason why you’d prefer to use an invert?

      1. No haha I guess I am confused by the comments in this video because people are saying they are invert when doing the spin dismount and then also the videos that come up when I click the spin dismount link in the summary below this lesson made me think I had to learn those. I think I am just confusing myself.

        1. Some of the comments are from an older version of the website so sometimes things have changed in a program or in some cases videos have been added into a program.

          1. I just read through the comments on this day for the program and I don’t see anybody referencing inverting. Remember when you click through the pink links, it’s taking you to the individual tutorial. This is part of the program but also available to everybody to see which is where you’re going to see some people talking about inverting.
