30 Day Shoulder Mount: Day 5
Duration: 00:24:54
Today you’ll work on building strength again and practice the Caterpillar, which is an important aspect of the Shoulder mount because it allows you to safely exit and avoid smashing the collarbone into the pole! The “drills” are the strength routine for today.
Pro tip: I thought it might be helpful if I briefly explain why you’re working on the Caterpillar in a Shoulder mount program. I understand that most often people will come out of their shoulder mount onto their feet. While doing this won’t hurt you, it’s also not going to promote development of new neurological pathways to build an automatic response for using the shoulder mount as a transition into another trick.

Hi Veena!
Loving the program so far!! Ok, so my inverted crucifix feels solid and although I can do the caterpillar, I notice that my body keeps turning about and when I get my hand down I can finally push myself out into caterpillar. My pole is on static. Why do you think my body is turning so much? Is there something I need to be engaging more? Fortunately, I am looking up, staying low and all the tips to prevent injury, and coming out safely if necessary. I wore shorts today instead of my PVC pants and maybe I was using those pants to compensate? Thank you!!
Hereās general info. Turning and twisting on static is common and itās usually a small change that causes it. If you donāt want to have any rotation make sure you apply equal force on both sides of all POCs and watch that youāre not over or under gripping with the hands.
If you have video of it I can help troubleshoot much better.
Keep in mind that rotation isnāt an indication that youāre doing things wrong.
And Iām happy you like it so far! š
