Yes, Castle… I said for "safety" reasons BUT I also stated that you need ask permission to post a tutorial. I have let some instructors post tutorial here, but they ask me first. If you unsure if something is ok, just ask!! I have no problem with people linking the occasional youtube vids into the forum. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

It would depend on the mood you want….Fitness type poling or Sexy/dance type poling. So think about your crowed what are they expecting, what would they be comfortable with. What side of pole do you want them to see??

Thank you for sharing babymaddy! Its true that it wouldn’t make much difference in calories burned by turning up or down the thermostat….BUT if the person really "thinks" it will make a difference, it can!! Hear me out…. I mean, if they feel good about making the small change, like they are taking charge of their health by doing something small, (like tuning up or down the thermostat) it could cause them to change other aspects of their lifestyle that really make a difference https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Climbing is excellent for strength building, good job!! Now you can work on getting comfortable with your upright crucifix, pole sits (there are different varieties of these), wrist seat, once you are a bit more advanced you can do the basic plank, Cross ankle release, Cross knee release. To get comfortable with going upside down without inverting…. you can also work on elbow stand and hand stands forward and backward. These are just a few but, there a many things you can do without having to invert. If you have my online lessons, you can find all of them on there https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

AdministratorAugust 18, 2009 at 5:02 pm in reply to: Help! I don’t like poling on carpeted floor!I have always had carpet under me and my poles, anywhere I ever lived.. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif I have mid length carpet right now and well… I prefer to dance in heels because my feet get all cut up if I do pirouettes on the carpet. I do have some really short sock/slippers I use sometimes too. It can be a bit challenging to dance with heels on carpet but, it gives you great balance https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif When I dance at studios that have hard wood, I feel awkward because its too damn stable. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif Its not an ideal situation but it can be worked around. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

You might get confused and fall? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif Hmm I have never heard that theory before. It maybe confusing at first, but if you have moved on the advanced moves where you really could fall, I’m pretty sure you would be comfortable enough with the pole so you wouldn’t get confused. If you start working on both sides when you begin dancing it will become more natural. I still can’t do every move on both side but almost….the advanced move are pretty darn scary to learn!!!
As some of the ladies said before…. its important to keep balance between all the muscle groups, you don’t want to end up with one noodle arm and one sexy strong arm https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif Also if you only use one side of you body this can cause back pain and all kinds of uncomfortable problems. IF you insist on only doing one sided poling, then make sure your doing strength training in addition to your pole dance, you may have to hold back on increasing weight on the side you pole on, because it will be stronger. Working both sides is also a great exercise for the brain https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_ugeek.gif YOur right to want to work both sides. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Do you have a garage, if you do maybe you could put your pole there? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif Or depending on were you live you could get an X stage and dance out side! The stage has 9ft!! of pole. Otherwise yes, it would limit you in some ways the have such a short ceiling, but you could still do many things and something is better than nothing. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

You really need to speak with your doctor on this one!! Pole puts a LOT of pressure on the abs, and you need to make sure your dr understands that when you are asking about resuming exercise. I would NOT begin inverting at 6 weeks. Take it slow. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

I’m hearing that the studio had trouble with all removable poles, right? Here are my thoughts. Charley is right…if they are not installed properly ANY POLE CAN FALL DOWN. This includes permanent poles!!!! Scary I know, but, I have personally had a PERMANENT pole fall down, with me at the top! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif I have use my x poles in many places and have never had them fall down, I failed to tight the dome once, and had it come loose, but it was my fault. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif If the studio where the pole fell down happened to have a dance floor or aerobic type floor, the kind that are meant to give and slightly spring back, that could cause a problem if the floor is not taken into account when installing the pole. This goes for the lil mynx too. The same goes for carpeted floors…you need to make sure that you have put weight on the pole while you tighten it, to account for the give in the carpeting. Tugging on a portable pole is only one way to check if it is tight enough. I always hang on it or have someone stand on the base and the re-tighten again. Then do a few test half spins, that way I can use a good amount of momentum without having to have both feet leave the floor. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I still love my X poles the quality is great and so is the customer service.

The actions of the kids well, its not really shocking, my kids are always finding poles to run around and do trick on…..BUT!! It is weird/DUMB that the parents/adults would choose a place that looks like a strip club https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif For a kids party??? Ummm Parenting "FAIL" https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif
