i have been poling for almost a month now & last night was the first time i was strong enough to actually climb up the pole! is that normal? or am i just really weak? i felt like that was pretty good https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif lol! now for the silly question… what do you do when you can climb the pole but can NOT do inverts? i don’t want to try inverts anytime soon, my core is far too weak for that, i would sink like a stone & bust my ass for sure! lol! i can sit on the pole & thats cool up "high" but thats about the only think i can think to do after i have climbed up there. any suggestions?

Climbing is excellent for strength building, good job!! Now you can work on getting comfortable with your upright crucifix, pole sits (there are different varieties of these), wrist seat, once you are a bit more advanced you can do the basic plank, Cross ankle release, Cross knee release. To get comfortable with going upside down without inverting…. you can also work on elbow stand and hand stands forward and backward. These are just a few but, there a many things you can do without having to invert. If you have my online lessons, you can find all of them on there https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

I think that’s pretty good! Congrats on the climb!

    Climbing isn’t easy so congrats!

I just like to climb up trying to use my upper body strength the most. Once I’m up I’ll usually sit or do a beginner layback (both hands still on the pole on top). And coming down I try to climb down slowly still using the upper body. Think of the pole like a rope and you don’t want to just drop down or you’ll get hand burn. That is a workout.

lol, i climbed it on monday, but yesterday i couldn’t do it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif i have noticed, i usually get "weak" the day after i try new stuff so i kinda expected that. my hands/knuckles are still REALLY sore so i may have to wait until tomorrow to try again. i don’t want to over do it like i did my 1st week lol! that week i poled 2 hours everyday & i was exhausted, achey & bruised up for the whole next week, lol!

One thing to remember: you want a day of rest in between working out so your body can recover, especially when you are new to pole dance https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif You’ll see greater gains in strength if you have a day off in between. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumleft.gif

1 month is pretty fast (depending on how many times a week you practice). And yes, feeling weaker the next day is a good sign, it means you used your muscles to the max, so now they will recover and grow stronger. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
