I’ve been lusting after a pole for a good 2 years now (and sneakily lurking on the Studio Veena forums feeling jealous…shh!). However, there’s a problem. Actually there’s several problems, the biggest of which is my mother, but you can’t help me with that one!

Our ceilings are 7’4 exactly, which isn’t very high to start with. I’m 5’10 in bare feet. It seems to me that, with only a foot and a half head room, I’d be at risk of going straight through my parents’ living room ceiling if I leapt at the pole a bit too enthusiastically!

What do you think? I have a horrible feeling it’s going to be a good few years more before I can get a pole. Gah! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif

    Hello,
Here’s some information I found directly on x-pole’s website:

"The X-Pole box set contains all you need to start pole exercise
and dance for ceiling heights 7’4”(2235mm) – 9’(2745mm)."

    I LOVE my x-pole https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
I’m tall myself and have worked in some clubs that I could touch the ceiling while on stage. It’s no biggie. You’ll get used to whatever your setup is. You may even find that touching the ceiling with your foot / hand gives you options for new or different tricks.

I think we all get tall ceiling envy here… especially after watching all those competitions with the 20 foot poles. LOL! I think you can still learn a lot even with lower ceilings. In the beginning you aren’t going to be doing a lot of jumping or inverting anyways (or least you shouldn’t!) A lot of moves just require you to hold the pole above your head and that is about it. I think you’ll be fine.
As far as the mum goes… I wish ya luck.

Do you have a garage, if you do maybe you could put your pole there? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif Or depending on were you live you could get an X stage and dance out side! The stage has 9ft!! of pole. Otherwise yes, it would limit you in some ways the have such a short ceiling, but you could still do many things and something is better than nothing. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Thanks guys – unfortunately our garage contains three drum kits, four timpani and a glockenspiel, so that’s out of the question! I thought about the stage poles, but living in England I’d probably only get about 4 days of use a year out of it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif.

I think I’ll get an X-pole since I’ve got enough room here to do spins at least, and work on my strength ready for inverting. By the time I move out my parents’ and into somewhere with a higher ceiling (first on my list of priorities when house-hunting!), I’ll be raring to go. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
