I agree with DGP! If you have extra skin at all…I do…be VERY careful with this on static, even on spin too. I don't do a lot of moves that have contact like that be cause of the mommy skin I have.

TONS of people have learned to pole dance right here using the lessons!! The lessons are super easy to follow and very in depth. Also, everything is place in order so there is no guessing what is appropriate for you're level. Included in the lessons is a program called the 30 day take off. It's 30 days of planned poling to help you build your strength and avoid unnecessary injury. Here's a video https://www.studioveena.com/videos/view/50e4694e-a85c-4fa0-8e66-61940ac37250
Try our lessons FREE for 3 days using this code: GET3FREE https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

You were doing a Twisted grip. Here's what the Split grip and true grip looks like.
Split https://www.studioveena.com/galleries/view/4f875b5b-fecc-4913-b563-409e0ac37250
True grip https://www.studioveena.com/galleries/view/4f875b40-2c24-4a38-8614-409e0ac37250
I just want to mention, I don't suggest working on TG too often, it can be very hard on the joints. Other grips are more difficult, but you'll body will thank you in the end. If you must use a twisted grip try working on it from an inverted position off the pole lowering down, to protect the shoulders.

Have you tried working on it from the ground?

I have some suggestions:
First you want to make sure it's not lack of flexibility in your shoulders, abs hip flexors and chest, because not only does your back/spine come into play but those muscles do as well.
You are correct that it takes strength to raise up into full bridge and it's a different motion then many pole moves. That being said, though you feel like you should have the strength, the muscles are being asked to do something new. Things to work on strengthening would be. Upper back lats, Triceps, Shoulders and even chest!
Also hand placement can be and issue! If you're placing the hands close to the top of the shoulders that can make pressing up more difficult. Try placing the hands by the ears instead. If you're taking the lessons here is the video for the Bridge. https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view/4deccca1-6624-4065-bc2e-7e100ac37250
In addition to all of that, warm up the back first with some spinal contractions, supermans, and other more gentle back work like cobra , bow and chest stretch. Save the bridge for when you're very warm.https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Men! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif They never really "get it". That's why it's awesome that we have each other to get excited about pole with!!!!

Changing finishes won’t usually help people with sweaty hands. There is no perfect finish for sweaty hands. Try gloves or what chem suggested. I’m not normally sweaty but when it’s hot in Vegas I find I can grip the SV pole better and longer without having to wipe it than my Titanium or chrome. But I’m not typically a sweaty person.

Don't wait hours after working out though, it will not have the same affect. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

It does pay to wait and save for a sturdy pole! You guys might want to check out the Studioveena pole. Goes up and down super fast, (this I love because I hula hoop in my space too) and has a neat button to switch from static to spinny and back to static. The grip is great too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8YW4HEd3gQ&feature=c4-overview&list=UUup79MtZnWP_SCAHeVlmzdQ
