I just took a whole lot of skin off my palm/wrist too. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumbdown.gif Ouch! I was trying to get the reverse grab and I only have about 15 min after class to work on it so I did too many spins in a row. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif

The pole classes I take have routines. Every three weeks we learn a new dance. The break it up like Week 1: 1st part of the dance, Week2:2nd part and then week 3 we put it all together. I’ve never freestyled because I don’t have my own pole at home. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif I’m hoping they are going to have some open studio times soon so I can try it! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif

https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif Azriel that is so me!!! I am clumsy by nature and find myself being extra, extra careful so I don’t get hurt and have to stay off the pole!
How about you are at pole class and there is a new person in class and you and your pole friends are SO enthusiastic https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif about how much you know they will love poling you probably scare the newbie a little bit! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif

This thread has inspired me! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
Today so far:
Breakfast: Raisin Bran with milk and green tea
Water
Lunch: Tuna on whole wheat with a lot of lettuce and potato chips
Water
Dinner: (planning on) Salmon with green beans and sweet potatoes.
Snack: piece of strawberry angel food cake & black coffee
Dessert: watermelon (from our garden!)
I have been PMSing and eating everything in sight for the past few days so I went to the store today and got healthy stuff and I’m determined to be good!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rambo.gif -
You can’t feel it at all. They are really comfy! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif I should have ordered true to size.

Mine are white and they have the secret compartment. I just put a lucky penny in them so far. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I ordered a pair of Pleasers (Treasure) and sized up but they were a bit too big in the part that goes over the top of the foot. But they were sold out in my size and I really wanted to keep them. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif I got some clear gel stick on heel grips and put them on the inside of the top of the foot part instead. And I added some ball of the foot grips as well. It made them fit much better.
But from now on I don’t think I’m going to size up anymore! -

MemberSeptember 13, 2009 at 5:11 am in reply to: Beauty & Body Care Tips for the Pole DancerI’ve been using Davies Babies BooBoo Stick (lol love the name) for my bruises and it seems to be helping. It comes in a stick that you just rub on any bumps or bruises you have. It’s a little sticky but it seems to help with the pain and healing. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

It is really hard! I just started a few months ago and still feel so weak. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif But with practice and strength training it is getting better. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif Hang in there and I agree, I celebrate any move I learn. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif

Sometimes accidents just happen. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif Yesterday at the gym I stepped onto a treadmill that I didn’t realize was already moving and came so close to doing a face plant. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif Of course it was super crowded and everyone saw it!
Hope the swelling goes down quickly and you feel well enough to get back on the pole. *hugs* -
My hands are sweating just thinking about giving up coffee! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
It would be an interesting experiment. I’m trying to give up soda, but I don’t know if I could give up my coffee/green tea! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif
I’ve tried it a couple times and my skin looks so much better, but I always go back…

You are talented, beautiful and your personality shines! Please don’t let them get you down. DH and I recently went to a club and as a curvy girl myself I was happy to see that the curvy girl working that night was the one making the money. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I hope that you are feeling better and that you find the best club for you! *hugs*

Foxy, I’m so sorry you are feeling down. Fleur and Free had a lot of good suggestions. I know panic attacks are not fun. Take care and try to take some time out for yourself. When things get crazy-stressful here I try to do at least one little thing just for me like getting a magazine or some other little treat.
Hope you feel better soon.
*hugs* -
Thank you Veena and DrkFaery!
Marin? That’s so cool Veena. I drive through Marin all the time on the way to SF! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif -

MemberJuly 29, 2009 at 8:14 pm in reply to: New to poledancing… any tips to build up strenght ?I’m working on buliding up my strength too. I do pull ups on both sides/front and back also. Also, since I don’t have access to a pole all the time (only when I have class…or go to the playground https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif ) I do pull ups at the gym, pushups and planks. It’s slow going but I’m seeing improvement. The more you practice, the better it will get! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

I wish I had before pics too. After 12 weeks I am more toned. I was really noticing it in class last night. My legs looked better. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif I’m also running and doing some weight training to help with weight loss. Poling motivates me to work out harder/eat better! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

The studio I go to charges $100 per hour for private lessons. Group lessons (1 person per pole) are $20 for drop in or I pay $90 for six weeks (once a week for an hour) Twice a week is $180. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
