Caffeine and a slippy grip!
Posted by deetron on August 13, 2009 at 10:58 amI am a coffee and tea fiend!!! Sometimes I think it doesn’t help for the sweaty hands on the pole syndrome! I often wonder if giving up caffeinated drinks helps with that.
Has anybody ever given up tea/coffee/cola and noticed a less sweaty pole grip?

My hands are sweating just thinking about giving up coffee! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
It would be an interesting experiment. I’m trying to give up soda, but I don’t know if I could give up my coffee/green tea! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif
I’ve tried it a couple times and my skin looks so much better, but I always go back…

When we see patients for Hyperhydrosis (the medical term for excessive sweating) one of the many things we tell them to stay away from to help prevent the condition is actually caffiene https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif . It’s one of many triggers for sweat attacks. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

Thanks for the reply guys!
That’s interesting info, SissyBuns. I’d better start trying to give up the coffee!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumbdown.gif

I found a website that has a list of drinks with their caffeine contents: http://www.energyfiend.com/the-caffeine-database. This way you can easily see what your caffeine intake is now, and what drinks to avoid. Good luck!!!

hmm I wonder if this is my problem. I don’t drink much of anything though except once or twice a week. Usually it is water juice milk. hmm
I have a horrible case of sweaty hands. I do find that when my feet are covered I sweat less as long as it isn’t ridiculously hot outside (no air where my pole is)

I could never give up my coffee! I could turn into this https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_twisted.gif without it! And I drink coffee most of the day usually! But,I do notice that my hands are extra sweaty when I have had coffee within a couple hours of poling. Does anyone know how long the sweaty effect lasts for?

I gave up caffiene awhile ago. I dont even really have to wipe my pole down anymore

Wow – now I feel bad sitting here with my 16oz americano!

I don’t know for sure how long the sweaty affect lasts, sorry. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

I always notice that i get sweaty after my 2 cups of coffee in the morning, so I don’t usually practice on my pole in the mornings. I’m also a rock climber and I know that my hands sweat more when i climb in the mornings after my coffee. It is usually better in the afternoons when the coffee has worn off.

I don’t drink coffee, but I do drink a lot of tea throughout the week – wonder if that has the same effect? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif
