I agree with Fleur… having grown up in Finland and then moving to the States I saw those differences.
Then in college we learned the theory that there is a difference between being naked and nude. It is one thing to be seen as an object (sexual or not) versus just being clothes-less. -
I love expert village! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gifYeah right? They have everything there.

-Running/jogging? You only need a good sports bra and running shoes. Relatively cheap compared to poling. LOL.
-The "Cardio Kickbox" from the Biggest Loser series or Jillian is an awesome 25 minute workout and you can burn up to 300 calories!
-I love doing really high intensity dancing at home… add some squats and kicks. -
You don’t have to join a class to get flexible. Yoga and other stretches are easy to do at home. Just remember to warm up and not push it too far or too fast. I love classic dance or ballet stretches… simple but effective.

A ton of space is ideal but we don’t all live in big houses or have studios close to our house. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif When my pole is in my living room I can get 3 sides to be pretty open (after pushing the furniture aside) but on one side I keep kicking the couch.

It stinks because I really want to get an X-Pole for colder seasons. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

I think we all get tall ceiling envy here… especially after watching all those competitions with the 20 foot poles. LOL! I think you can still learn a lot even with lower ceilings. In the beginning you aren’t going to be doing a lot of jumping or inverting anyways (or least you shouldn’t!) A lot of moves just require you to hold the pole above your head and that is about it. I think you’ll be fine.
As far as the mum goes… I wish ya luck. -
I have done some of the moves for obliques and abs from the ExpertVillage vids…

Studio Veena is awesome… thanks for joining the community! Welcome!

I think it depends on what part of the world you are from. I have seen stuff like a Carousel being called a Frog… or the Chair as I know it is called the Carousel. LOL… I think most of us are aware of the differences in names and the fact that we are from all over the globe. You won’t get yelled at here. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
Some things are standard but I don’t understand why there isn’t a standard name for everything in pole dance. It is not like in ice skating… You would never hear a Triple Axel be called a Thrice Weezel, you know?

If you feel uncomfortable with inverting on your weaker side maybe you could look into getting a spotter or a pole buddy to help? Maybe lots of pillows and cushions below too? Other than that it is very important to practice both sides. Can you imagine being all buff and flexible only on one side? Not a good look. LOL

Check out the Vertical Dance website because there are 3 PDF files with pictures & names… They are divided into beginner, intermediate, and advanced. I have them saved on my computer so I can pull them up whenever.

They got rid of their X-Poles!??!?! I would have dumpster dived for those! X-Poles are used by professionals and in many pole dance competitions. Sounds like they didn’t install it properly at the party…

Yay, I got SV on FaceBook!

Hoddskaon YouTube combines her love of hooping and pole dance in her vids… maybe not at the same time but she posts vids of both.
It must be a really good workout… good for toning. Especially when you get a hoop with weights in it.

Oh yeah, it’s not the fact that the kids are goofing off on the pole but that they are doing it at a pre-show party… in a club…

I did silly stuff like put on a whole ton of make-up and wear a little crop top and say, "I’m a hoookkerrrr!" with like a deep Polish accent… BUT I DID IT HOME! lol And I didn’t really know the impact or meaning of a lot of words until I was older. So yeah… *loooks away*
