I don’t know what it’s called or how to do it, but I’ve seen the move in some Chinese pole videos – I know Remi Martin did it in at least one video of his I’ve seen. (or at least something extremely similar)
At first I thought she was doing it one way but then watched it again and I was wrong… It’s strange, she’s gripping the pole with the foot of one leg and the knee of the other leg, but the free foot is stuck through the free knee on the other leg… and yes, it does look painful.
So Is gots nothin’. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif
Hopefully someone else has some better input on this… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif

@Fleur: I’d say polishing moves, because you mentioned them being picked by the attendees, correct? If they get to pick the moves that you help them with, it could be a simple basic invert or something more advanced like a jade. I mean, even if the moves all end up being more basic, even people that are more advanced can benefit from cleaning up the moves that are more simple to them. Does that make any sense at all? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif
Teaching combinations, whether they be combinations between simple or advanced moves, is also another great idea, in my opinion. I think a lot of people can do the tricks individually but have a hard time putting them together and/or choreographing them (*raises hand*). So I think your idea of combining both elements in one workshop would be an awesome idea, however I think it would entail a lot of more one-on-one work and/or variations in your "lesson plans" to accommodate for the different skill levels (once again, no idea if I’m making any sense…).
Just a random question: do they have workshops strictly for beginners? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif One that teaches spins, strength training exercises, stretches, transitions and simple choreo, and maybe touching on proper inverting technique. Maybe even including a handout of proper move progression or something of where they should be heading (are handouts typical at a workshop???).
Anyhoo, I think it’s great that you’re trying to include everyone in your workshops, Fleur, very generous of you https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

I have carpet and the carpet burn on your knees is awful… plus you can’t pivot on your feet very well, especially in heels. So I personally wouldn’t recommend a rug, unless you got a very very soft one…
Some leg warmers might go up over the knees, but other than that I can’t think of any cute ideas to protect them. I’m not sure if that’s something you might get used to over time if you just kept dancing on the hardwood, but you might.
Good luck!:)

I get my shoes from shoebuy.com… don’t know if you’ve tried them. I’m not sure if they do wide fit, either. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif But that website has free return shipping (I think free shipping in general, but don’t quote me…), and they have all kinds of coupon codes that you can Google for and find – so at least if you do have to return them, you didn’t waste any money.
At the very least you can take a look… they have Pleasers and all kinds of shoes. Good luck!
Oh, as far as physical stores, the only sex shop I’ve been to had some really chinsy shoes… reminded me of those plastic ones that little girls can get at a toy store compared to my Pleasers. Maybe it’s different with other stores, though… :-/

I’m currently trying to do this challenge, but it is impossible for me to dance for a whole song without having to wipe the pole and my hands! I’ve tried shaving gel, hair spray etc. none of it works! I clean my pole with window cleaner and when i start its perfctly grippy. I alo know its warm enough as ive been dancing for an hour now! I just get so freaking sweaty, then I get annoyed, and as a result i get even sweatier. Half the time in my vids, im wiping my pole… and thats not sexy!
What can I do??!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif
Tite Grip and DryHands are also anti-persperants but they are made for your hands. I’ve tried both and I generally prefer the Tite Grip but both work pretty well. It’s good to learn without the grip aids, though, and just use them when you know that you’ll be doing an uncut dance or doing a lot of holds. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Someone else just made a thread about this… I believe Veena said another week, they’re changing to the new poles, I guess.

Thanks SandyBrown! I was worried I overlooked something in my junk email or something… now I feel better https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Do you try to eat anything else along with them? Maybe the acidity wouldn’t bother you so much if there were other things in your stomach to balance out the acid; something more basic (I’m digging up memories from science class… opposite of an acid is a base, right?). You might want to try changing up your eating routine so that you have your fruit along with your meals instead of as snacks. Just a thought, maybe a few of the other ladies would have better ideas for you – good luck!

I’m in Amber’s USPDF workshop on Saturday. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
Speaking of which, I haven’t heard anything else about it. We were supposed to get an email with the studio locations on Feb 1st, and I didn’t. Were they even sent out? Also, are there tickets for that or do they just ID you or something? Other than my receipt, I have no other proof I bought the darn thing. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

Same with me and my 7 inch Pleasers… I’m trying to talk my husband into letting me get a 5 inch pair to take to USPDF in March https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

I took a 6 month pole "vacation" and left my pole up. I took it down when I started up again and it came apart – it was a bit tougher than usual, but it did unscrew (even without having to resort to the shock method).
Even if it is stuck, you should be able to still use it. You just won’t be able to pack it up nice and neat like you could before.
I’d say just do it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif The longer it stays up, the worse it may get.

Yes, You can….. We do it all of the time for people…You just need to MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE ALL OF YOUR PAPER WORK IN ORDER like Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure for example. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumleft.gif
Lol, that’s exactly the kind of stuff I’m talking about… I don’t know what kind of paperwork I would need, no idea how to go about getting the actual designs made up so the people making it know what they’re doing, and no clue who to call to actually make the thing. Not to mention I’d worry that the quality wouldn’t turn out like what I would want it to be – I’d want my poles to be as good as X-Pole, Platinum Stages, Lil Mynx, etc. and not end up with a Peek-a-boo. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif
Also I’d worry about getting accused of ripping off other pole manufacturers’ ideas. Since I have an X-Pole, my idea might be eerily similar to an X-Pole design and they might not like that very much… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif
I think I’m just going to have to sit down and Google search the heck out of this stuff, even though I’m still not really sure what to enter in the search field…

If X-Pole US is out of stock, then good luck finding someone that has them in stock because X-Pole US is the source. Maybe call them and ask them if any of their retailers has any in stock still? Would they even have that information? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif
I dunno… maybe just be patient until they get more *shrug*

Do you have pic or vid of someone doing the move? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif I honestly can’t figure out what you’re trying to describe… but we all know I’m not the brightest crayon in the box https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_tongue.gif

I’m sorry for your daughter… I had to laugh at the end though when the other girl said she was leaving because your daughter went for her face. I say that girl was stupid enough to start it so she shouldn’t be surprised if the other person does what they can to defend themselves – duh! There is no reason for any disagreement to become physical…
I flagged it, good luck and keep us posted if it gets taken down.
