Its much less scary if you scoot way down and try it. Almost like a SM on the floor, but a little higher so you don’t bang your knees on the way over!!! The first time I tried it was with Fleur, at the studio where she teaches and I was so scared, because the have hardwood floors. I kept landing to the side of the pole not behind! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Its the twisting of the arm that is bad, its no where near a neutral position and any time you go outside a neutral body position you risk injury, no matter how strong you are. There are always exceptions to the rules, like if someone is hyper flexible naturally…but that doesn’t mean we should all strive to be hyperflexy. I have never heard of a move causing as much trouble on the joints as this one. Be careful if you do perform this one. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

She was right to teach it that way!! Learning it from an invert first is much safer on the joints, its doesn’t allow you to jerk and tweek like you would from the ground. I do have this in my list of new lessons, BUT I’m still not sure I will teach this move. Its just so hard on the joints. If I do it would be from on the pole. Yay for Michula she is one smart instructor! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

I think your talking about the SM flip…that what I call it. I’ll have this one in my new lessons, but for now, here is a video I took of myself when I was learning the move. I did it into a split, not onto the pole. I’ll teach it both ways in the lessons. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

I would think the troubles could definitely be coming from the eating problems in the past. I would have to do more research to know what may help, my training is only in helping prevent this kind of problem. So it sounds like your still vaulting and pole dancing? I would talk to a nutritionist to see what they could suggest. With your history certain supplement might be key to keeping your body healthy. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumleft.gif

I honestly if you have a well rounded diet I don’t see the need for special vitamins and or supplement. For the majority of the population its not necessary even if your active. Now, if your into body building and things like that you have to be super strict about your food and supplements….or it can be tough on your body. Are you having tendon problems? Or just trying to prevent a problem?

Hey, I just saw this post https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif the other ladies all had good advice….your gonna have to get that death grip to relax! lol Static is all about using the momentum of your body so the harder you kick or push off the faster you’ll go. Your grip will get better…I personally think its best to start with static, to avoid the death grip. Try wearing some wrist cuffs to help with the pole burn, it will also keep your skin from sticking and slowing you down too. Most dancers who only use spinny have a hard time getting use to static. I personally love static because I like the challenge of trying to create the momentum with my body…spinny sure is purdy tho https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif
