Ah I see! Doing the pole leg lifts would help https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view/4db34cf5-c2bc-4c39-9487-24560ac37250 also the best thing is to keep practicing and focus on the hands, legs and feet. Take a ballet class if you can.

I’ve seen a few of Marlo’s and they look very cool! If you’re looking for connecting pole work and transition check out the Routines/combos section here. https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view_category/routines-pole-lessons

Lina, I did try the Bird of Paradise the day I saw it, but didn’t have the flexibility. It will be something I should try on my 40 like you said. Let me know if you get it!

Thanks everyone. Today is a rest day but I’ll be trying some of these soon.

Chem, I do agree (from the few comp vids David showed me) that many dancers no longer have their own style! But, I guess that’s what happens when something becomes a bit more mainstream. I have a huge love for choreography so I can see why it would be exciting to take someone who can do more than yourself and create! However, I would love for pole dancers to realize that there is sooooo much more to pole then comps and “fame”. It has gotten better than it was, when everyone and their grandma was trying to aspire to become a “pole star” . LOL My favorite pole dancers to watch are ones who dance from the heart!!

I see Pro/Elite Pole and Amateur pole, the lines are still a little blurry but I hope everyone will start to see that Pro doesn’t have to be the final goal!!

Hi Brittany, Maybe this will help. Write down why you pole dance, how does it make you feel, why were you drawn to try pole in the first place?

Then write down what your goals are. Start with big ones, then insert smaller obtainable goals as steps towards your big goal.

Also trying something else for a while like yoga, hula hooping, arial arts or dance class might be a nice break.

Everyone makes wonderful points! I too consider myself a Professional, however I would not say my dancing is at an Elite competitive level. You can totally be a Professional but not compete.

When it comes to competition it’s common in the dance world to have someone else choreograph for you. I don’t see there being anything wrong with it. I think choreographers are important, I think it would be an amazing job! I have so many ideas in my head and Iike Charley mentioned, I feel I could be creative with things I couldn’t physically do! lol

When I have worked with pole dancers I always try to use their ideas. I just blend things and make sure the flow is working. Offer suggestions for more unique moves or transitions.

As far as cost, I don’t know. I’ve only done it a few times for free.

That story makes a great point! I will say the “pole community” outside of SV is fickle about who they support. Pantera is amazing and I wish those who choose not to compete would be recognized as well. But that’s the nature of media… 😞

I haven’t follow major pole comps for about 2 yrs now and I forget that it’s only champion winners outsiders are exposed to. Unless they come here, we have a great variety of polers with all levels of ability!!!!💜

When I lived in the Midwest I steamed my pole every time I would dance in the colder months. I have heard an iron set to steam works.

Oh and to address the body type issue. I don’t think there’s anything sinister going on. All pro athletes have similar body types for their sport.

I don’t wear my wedding ring any more. At least not when I pole often. 😕
