I say give it time, don’t rush yourself. No one walks up to a pole and just does awesome things on it. I have been poling for 10 months and I am still on the beginner lessons. I am not rushing things at all. I want to get good at the beginner stuff before I move on and it doesn’t matter to me how long that takes. Everyone is different. Take your time, have fun and relax. A positive attitude will get you farther along. Putting too much pressure on yourself is going to cause frustration and resentment and possibly injuries. Enjoy your journey in poling!

Thanks ladies! That is what I was thinking but I kept looking at the pole to see if there was some spot that I could watch it was hard. The difference is quite a bit once I knew what to look for. Thanks! I may have to get myself a spinning pole…

I have seen her post that too! Still makes me laugh and even more so because I know first hand that a t-rex can’t pole lol

I am glad I am not the only one to struggle with this. I feel like I don’t have the positions down well enough to be able to string them all together and I feel that it will come in time. My kids are the same way with their kickboxing and jiu jitsu, you know the separate moves but putting them together in a way that works is tricky.

Now that you mention it the carpet was pretty compressed and I hadn’t checked it lately. Lesson learned lol I am still having a frame put up around the ceiling mount though as an extra safety measure. Thank you for your input 🙂

It is tensioned between the floor and a joist like it is supposed to be and it was plenty tight enough but today it slid off the ceiling. I wonder if the paint makes it slick and the silicone grip doesn’t grip enough or what. I make sure it is tight each time before working on it and it was good until after a few fireman spins and then down it came. We already have a frame built for it so that if it does slide again it will be stopped by the trim around it but that isn’t up yet, it’ on the honey-do-list for this weekend.

Thank you X Pole Tech for the information! I was hoping it would work out to be less expensive in the long run but sounds like it won’t. I have to wait anyway as I am just restarting poling again. Thank you again for your input.

Urgh, I also meant to ask if I can order parts to make my static pole a spinning pole?

So if I have an existing X-Pole, can I purchase just the silicone pole to use with my current bases?

I haven’t even told my mom about my poling yet. It isn’t that I am ashamed of it but more along the lines of I don’t want her to want to do it too 😛 She has tendencies to want the same things I have and it drives me nuts, to top it off she always responds with “imitation is the highest form of flattery” which doesn’t make it any less annoying. Congrats on being able to be open with her at least.

No need to feel nervous, if I have learned anything from the SV people it is that they appreciate all the work that went into what you did. No judgements here at all! You are so brave and inspiring. Maybe someday I will post a video… I am glad it isn’t only my kitties that come to visit while I pole lol One of mine has been booted lightly in the face and then he sits at the base of my pole biting my toes whenever possible lol Keep doing what you are doing. At least this way you can look back a year from now and see how far you have come 🙂

Ugh, I was all ready to do it, practiced many times throughout the day and into the evening. Changed a bunch of stuff around and made it twice as long and then what does my husband do??!!! When I ask if he is ready he tells me he’s tired!!!!! OMG I was royally pissed off. So for his birthday he got to go to bed early lol What really bothers me about it though is he blamed me, and I would go into more detail but I don’t want to bore you but it really wasn’t my fault. So, he will get his dance, but it depends on him being able to apologize for his repeated bad behavior. I have let him get away with it for far too long. I will update when he gets it though lol

Good to know! Thank you all. I will just stick with my static pole for now, it is a 45mm pole and I can definitely feel the difference in holding onto something bigger. I am only a month and a half into pole work and I haven’t even worked up to spins yet, still working on climbs and sits. I certainly am not going to rush into anything yet.

As for my limitations Lina, they are carrying weights overhead, if carried in my left arm it makes my lower right back hurt and if carried in my right arm it makes my lower left back hurt. Rotating to the right is more difficult as well and bending to the right. Single arm rows are harder to stay level also when done on my left side. That is all I can think of for now but I am sure there are others lol
