"Go cheap where you can…" However our bodies soak in 5 pounds of makeup and lotion per year so something I'm not willing to skimp on is quality or my natural products. The beautiful thing is that there are plenty of budget products that take care of both my requirements.

TOOLS – I tend to use brushes for almost everything makeup related… blushing, eyeshadow, eyeliner, foundation, and son on. Most of my brushes are cheaper EcoTools or Coastal Scents ones (I only go for fur-free versions). I have a few brushes that cost me more than $20 but they are the really good blending brushes from Urban Decay. My eyelash curler was a drug-store Maybelline one. If I use foundation sponges they are generic ones.

EYESHADOW & BLUSH – Most of my eyeshadows are from Silk Naturals or Everyday Minerals (not to be confused with Bare Minerals) just because I try to stay on the chemical free side.

PRIMER & EYELINER – This is where I think it is worth it to spend a little extra… MAC Paintpot for primer (I have three, one black, one matte skin tone, and one golden shimmer). I also have some of the Urban Decay ones but I don't like them as much as MAC. Eyeliner I use MAC Fluidline in Blitz Glitz.

PS – Do not go for MAC products on eBay… most of them end up being fakes.

Great product to use for all-day eyeliner is MAC Paintpot as a primer and then for liner I love the  Fluidline. It is a solid cream-like eyeliner in a little glass pot and I use brushes to apply it. Nothing else works as well, at least for me because I have oily eyelids. Even Urban Decay's 24/7 eyeliner doesn't work as well as the Fluidline for me. Of course you always want to top off your "work" with a bit of setting powder.

I actually don't buy any specifically pole dancing gear. Bottoms… Hanes boxer brief things for girls, short-shorts from various stores, and booty undies. Tops… halter tops and tanktops after summer, bikini tops, and workout bras.

I'm also practicing the split grip… after two years I'm finally challengin myself to do more inverts. I just wanted to make sure I was strong enough. I'm just slowly trying to lift my body up instead of jumping/kicking into to. I will try that split knuckle grip though. Hmm….

I don’t… I think it is more important to walk on the balls of your feet (rather than your heels) so you can properly dance and pivot. It is all personal preference though. I’d say in the beginning it is better without. All those myths about "you get stronger calves" is BS so wear them because you want to, you know?

I have a 50mm and I have larger hands… not huge mind you. Works out fine for me. For me my shyness on the pole was more to do with the fact that I needed to practice more and not the fact that the pole was too thick. You know?

OMG I need to save up! Even tickets from Germany to Sweden can be expensive.
Have to wait until June for more info though huh? It all depends on how much place tickets are, how much the tickets to come watch are… hotels… etc etc.
I want to just go and see everyone and watch all the beauty… hmm…. *thinking thinking*

I hope you get a pole… having one at home is just awesome. I can do it whenever I like… in the morning before work or right after work or before going to bed. Some days I have to skip working out all together because I just don’t have time between work, school, and home. On those days I made sure to make good use of my small breaks and lunch break… taking walks or stretching/doing yoga in my office. I just close my door and enjoy taking a break from the computer.

Hand lotion – all day long… just because I like washing my hands
Body lotion – every night before I go to bed or after my evening shower. I ALWAYS do a quickie rinse shower before poling anyways so I don’t see the need to totally nix the lotion.

ok I have a "just got a pole question"…when you got your X-pole…did you keep the cardboard tubes as well as the carry bag?Nope. When I sold my Platinum Stages pole I gave the girl the X-Pole carrying bags. The older model of the Platinum Stages Super-Pole didn’t come with any sort of carrying bag so I originally ended up paying an extra $80 for their aluminum carrying case. That worked out well and since I kept the Platinum Stages aluminum carrying case for my X-pole and wouldn’t have needed those bags. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

No kicking and like many people say in other posts… if you just started or are still new to pole you shouldn’t be inverting anyways! Kicking does make it easier but it doesn’t do anything for building up your strength which you will need later down the road.

Both the original and X-Pert X-Poles have two hex screws that need to be loosened to go into spin mode. Just be sure you are loosening the two for spin and not the other ones for pole "tightness". hehe

    I totally agree!

With the comments show the latest one on top so that you don’t have to keep scrolling down. What if you have like 50 comments (I don’t… but what if?)

I do my thing and you do yours. I am not in this world to live up to your expectations, and you are not in this world to live up to mine. You are you and I am I, and if by chance we find each other, then it is beautiful. If not, it can’t be helped. ~Frederick Perls

I don’t want to get too into because I will… I have to hold back…. WE can’t divorce the sex industry from pole dance? Look who keeps bringing it up! We keep talking about feeling strong and having the best workout ever… I haven’t heard one girl yet say, "Oh I pole dance because I want to show my coochie to the WORLD! F me! F me! I don’t care about my body!"

I’m still so surprised that people are shocked by pole dance. It is not like 10 years ago when there were only a few studios or limited teachers. Pole dance is international! We have studios across the globe! That deserves some gosh-darn recognition that isn’t negative. *hmph*

You’ll feel like a ragdoll for a while… especially if you don’t already have a super strong core and upper-body. It took me a couple of months to feel like I wasn’t beating my body on the pole. lol

You will def. notice tight abs and a strong upper body. I have a bit of belly flab but it was umm, loose (hahah ewww) before and now it is like I got a tummy tuck. Tight and strong. My arms, well, I have a little Popeye bicep going on and carrying bags of groceries is a breeze!

Veena keeps pointing out that TG is more for advanced dancers and it has the grip of brass so Chrome was a great choice! I have always used a 50mm and I don’t think it is that huge of a diameter. And it is the standard size in most classes, studios, and clubs.

I don’t really like Windex (b/c of the chemicals) so instead I use rubbing alchol on a towel that is already slightly damp with water. I have the same issue with sweaty palms and I just keep wiping. If you are only doing tricks or are using spin mode you might want to consider something like Tight Grip.
