Today is a rest day and I thought it would be a good time to share my video on how to make a hula hoop!

Have you ever tried hula hooping? Or maybe you already know how, I’d love to hear about it!

Pro tip: I’m guessing you might have heard it’s helpful to cross-train, which is incorporating different styles of exercises that are in the same wheelhouse, but it’s not pole dancing. I personally love hula hooping as cross-training and here’s why:

  • Hula hooping also allows for expression of music and whole body movement
  • When working with smaller hoops on your arms it strengthens the fingers, hands, wrist, and forearms, which also makes it a great choice for warm-ups too
  • You can hula hoop daily and a gentle, quick warm up will do, if it’s needed at all
  • Working with larger hula hoops improves spinal function, core strength and overall motor skills
  • It’s fairly inexpensive
  • They’re fun to take to festivals and events and easier to travel with than a pole

Here’s a link to my entire hula hooping section if you’re curious about my second passion!

  1. Hi Veena,
I need some advice, please! I have been poling since the beginning of last year and am currently training 4 days a week, doing pole on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays and a dance class on Tuesdays and Saturdays. I do stretch a bit on the days I train but would like to incorporate your 30 Days To Flexy program. Do you have any advice for me on when I can include the program and when I should rest? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Candice

  2. Each day I tell you if you should rest or if you can include that day in with your regular workout plan. For the most part, unless it’s a rest day you can include the program in with your existing workout. 🙂

  3. Awesome! Thank you so much for the quick reply! Absolutely LOVE your tutorials, I have made so much progress since subscribing to your website!
    Thanks Again,
    Candice

  4. Hi! I managed to do only 1 set yesterday (this took nearly an hour, and I had to stop).
Today I feel very tired and sore, so this rejuvenation day comes great.
However, since I only did a single set yesterday in day 5, what should I do tomorrow – repeat day 5, or carry on with day 7?
