AdministratorOctober 26, 2015 at 2:23 pm in reply to: Is there any pole dancers who have competed WITHOUT any gymnastic/super sporty background? It depends on the level you wish to compete at! Now days yes, most have contortion and gymnastics training, this wasn’t the case even a few years ago. I’ve never had any gymnastics or any formal dance training, so it is possible to reach goals of flexibility and high levels tricks without that background! However most high-level comps are full of highly trained athletes. I don’t want to discourage you but if competing is high on your list adding other types of training is a must!
If you haven’t read it my teacher training course offers some insight on levels, pro verses elite and so on. https://www.studioveena.com/methods/letter

Yes, I have a ton of info here! As a new pole dancer the best place to start is the 30 day take off program https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view/50d407f6-6738-46d9-bca7-32260ac37250
If you don’t want to follow a program just start by watching the very first lesson here https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view_category/beginner-pole-lessons and it will explain how to use the lessons 😀
If you start at either of these points you’ll find info on how often to pole, tips for training flexibility and all kinds of stuff! Let me know if you have any other question.

Loving the videos that have come in so far!!!!! Keep in mind you don’t HAVE to share to participate, sharing is only required to have a chance at winning 1 yr of lessons and 2 pairs of KMK shorts 🙂

Do you NEED to take it apart? I have on old xpole, that was this style and ended up just leaving 2 of the pieces together because they were stuck.

AdministratorOctober 25, 2015 at 10:32 am in reply to: Recommendations for Building Strength?HI! There are a LOT of great options for building strength here! I’ve got at least 9 full length strength routines you can do both with your pole and without. I’ve also recently added 20 new strength and conditioning lessons and none of them require equipment or even the pole.
If you do the 30 day take off program you’ll find it guides you thought building both strength and flexibility. There is also a Veena’s tips in the lessons that demonstrate 30 exercises for pole strength building (not pole needed) and a core strength Veena’s tips as well 30 exercises https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view/530187f1-d550-48e8-a069-12cc0a9aa0eb !

No, not to IG. You do have to upload the video here and then share it to your Facebook or Twitter profile. Sharing with IG is just an option if you like.

For me SS has never been better than Chrome so if you find that slick I don’t think SS would be better for you. If the slipping is due to sweat than brass might be a good option. If you think you slip because you don’t feel like the skin grips Titanium, and Powder coated works for me. I like my brass too IF i’m dancing in a humid climate. I find I can grip any finish if I use this grip aid combo! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgvvc2uvcFw

Welcome to SV and congrats on the little one!!!! You’ll find the 30 day program will answer all of these questions as you continue! Make sure to also watch each of the “Getting started” lessons at the beginning of each section as these also have info on how often and so on! Let us know if you have any other questions!

I hear a lot of different thoughts on the certs out there, so hopefully someone will let you know which one is worth the cost! Until you decide on one, and if you haven’t already, you could check out my teacher training manual its free and meant for someone in your position looking to teach others! https://www.studioveena.com/methods/letter

AdministratorOctober 24, 2015 at 10:09 am in reply to: joint hypermobility sydrome and poling? It’s not within my scope of practice to know if this come be “fixed” I would say it’s something to work around.
I would think that if you are diligent with form and focus on not allowing joints to hyperextend, you’ll be able to continue, unless this condition doesn’t allow for that kind of control? The body is amazing so I think if you’re aware anything is possible! Stretching should be done throughout the muscle and not just the joints anyway. That being said you will need to be very aware of form and not settling into the joints but staying active while stretching. I would say stay away from overspilts, I don’t like those anyway because of how harsh they can be on joints! So stretch to keep things equal and comfortable for you, not to contortion level.
I would avoid tricks like twisted grip and you might want to just a partial split grip or elbow grip instead. Spins may also be trouble some if you are not able to control how far the joint extends. There are still tons of things you can do even if you avoid theses moves.

Thank you guys, I’m happy you liked it!
Tropical I have never done corde this was just in our back yard off the tree house! My hands were so torn up by that old rope! I just took things I could do on the pole and hung from a dirty rope. hehe
This video is special and has great memories for me, the house we lived in was my favorite ever, and I loved the yard and the fact the we had a little lake, tree house and woods! I also have my favorite pole space with super high ceilings and room for 2 poles! The video makes me smile because my oldest, probably 10 at the time, did the recording for me. I told him where to go and he even got some shots from up in the tree house, we had a blast! The path you see me walking at the beginning and end became a cool slalom like path to sled down in winter! I don’t know if I’ll ever get over leaving that place….
I really miss making production videos like this.

It was great to see you there!

This video I created wasn’t for a challenge but I think it fits the Halloween and costume theme and I love it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-y39fGsqfk

Yay! That’s great to hear!

Exciting! Yes, feel free to grab anything out of the routines and combo section. There’s stuff in the quick lessons too. One thing I find most important in a performance is eye contact, or at least the appearance of eye contact and interest in the audience also looking like you’re enjoying yourself is really important! Yes, people love splits even if they are not full splits!
-
Always worth it and you can use them with the lessons here. Looks like rogue bands are just a brand name so I would go with whatever fits your budget.
