IF your hooking the leg that is on the pole behind your heel….you can pull yourself into the pole and grab the pole with both legs and go into a crucifix, this would be a bit more basic than going into the flatline scorpio https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

If your looking to do some strength training with your pole, then you might wanna check out my online lessons here. I have a full body work out using your pole to prepare your body for the demands https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif You’ll get there https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

You can try going to a sign company and most will make a small piece like a pole dancers for pretty inexpensive. You can create your own or if you pay them they create it for you. We have done this in the past for other business’s we have had. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

If its only your grip and you have the position…. then try dampening the towel you use to wipe you pole with, using a bit of alcohol or what ever you clean your pole with. Rub it on your hands and the pole and as soon as its dry….don’t try it with wet hands!!!!! as soon as its dries, try the move. You’ll get better grip but only temporarily. Or try my silly dish washing rubber glove trick….they do stick really well https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Thanks for the suggestion https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif the pressure of the pole wouldn’t work with that kind of flooring….I already tried to convince the husband of that kind of flooring when we first moved in LOL He said nope, the carpet is just to thick, so its not stable enough to put flooring over. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif I have looked a many places and this house soooo close to perfect, just that damn carpet and boring location. I have danced on carpet since I started so I guess why stop now. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif

why can’t you rip up the carpet??
Its not my house! LOL We rent. -
I would try the boots…I thought I had strong hamstrings too, until I started doing the star, and knee holds. That position is really unnatural, you’ll get it! Boots I say! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif
-
I’m telling ya its all about the hamstrings (the back of the thigh) muscle. It contracts in the same basic manner as your arms bicep muscle….it can pull. On the pole work might include side climbs, the star (this one is great for preparing you for the knee hold) to name a few. For exercises off the pole….squats, walking lunges…if you focus on pressing off with your HEEL you will focus more on the glute/butt and hamstring area. Bridges are great too. I would also try a pair of high sticky boot, this can help you work on your strength without the PAIN https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_pale.gif on your skin, you can then focus on holding the move and not the pain.

I’ve been watching your lessons and I walk into it the way you show it. I have yet to try anything on static other than climbing. I really should. I just don’t see how you can do a full circle lol. I would think my skin would stick to the pole.Ohhh ok, the method in my lessons are only to be done on static…as I said before, the technique is different on spin. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif IF your walking into the moves and using the momentum of your legs, like I show you, you’ll be going way to fast on spin https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif that is why your having a hard time holding on and keeping position https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif .
-
Yes I second that…use the wall and keep the pressure off your head….engage your shoulders, so your not slumping down into them, so if your ears are to your shoulders that not what you want. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif Use the wall its soooo much easier than the pole at first.
-
I really think learning spins on static mode is best first. Is the teacher or person you watching video of or taking lessons from, using a static pole or spin?? If its static you’ll have to change the way your entering and exiting your spins. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

AdministratorSeptember 23, 2009 at 4:35 pm in reply to: Pole dancing shorts. Help. Need your opinion 😀I almost always wear my pole shorts really low cut…keeps the muffin top away and helps keep the extra skin from flopping over! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif I want full coverage over the lady business!!! I don’t want to flash anyone https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif If the crotch area is too tiny I find I avoid some movements that might expose myself. hehe. I don’t wanna have to get a wax job just to pole on a daily basis…..so more crotch please…um coverage that is. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif I really don’t care if my butt shows or not… it seem like to get good crotch coverage you need a good amount of butt coverage too. I love the cut of the Hanes boy cut underwear for women…if someone could make a pole short like that I would love it! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif I actually cut apart an old pair of mine when I first started poling to make a pattern. I only had some terrible material to use and it worked, but they had no give to them because of the material, and I seemed to have lost the pattern when we moved out here to CA. Ok enough rambling, two things I look for…
1 crotch coverage
2 low cut/sits on hips…. or can I roll it down and make it low cut. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif -
You should always try every move on BOTH sides…this is no right or wrong side, its a matter of preference…but if pole is your only form of strength work, you should be try to learn on both sides. Your teacher might not be able to teach the other direction and so she didn’t want to get confused. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif
-
I’m still very confused…someone told someone to run?? into a move https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif Sound like you all have it figured out now….I’m still lost https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif maybe you had to be there. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
-
First be sure that you only hand tighten the pole pieces….then, here is a trick I have been using….BEFORE I go to take down the pole..so before I loosen the dome, I loosen the pole pieces themselves…not all the way, but just enough so I know they will come apart once I get the pole down. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I totally think its a great idea!! I do wanna wait until after oct……just because I want that challenge to be really open to what ever crazy Halloween https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_batman.gif tricks and treats people can come up with. So I’m thinking we’ll start this in Nov. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif I love the idea. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_idea.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_idea.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_idea.gif

Hey guys…it can also be really helpful if you think of bringing your knees in as you lift up into the shoulder mount. By going into a tuck position on the way up you have less leverage to deal with making the move easier. So kick one leg (gently if you need a lot of kick your not ready) up and as you bring your feet off the ground don’t think of moving right into a V… bend the legs and tuck…then open into the V or bring your legs to the pole. So its… kick-tuck-V. Once you master the tuck first method then you can work on V leg and straight legs into the SM. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

This is what I wrote on your vid…
Can you caterpillar yet? If you can it can be helpful to have a strong caterpillar…by performing a small caterpillar up first before moving into the butterfly this can help get your body farther away from the pole and allows you to get that lower arm (the one at the bottom of the pole) up a bit farther before going into the butterfly. So by getting your lower arm a bit farther up and your body a little farther away from the pole, it can help you square up the move. )[/color https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
