Maybe we should start a topic so everyone can list their skin type, climate, both heat and humidity level and pole finish preference….Could be helpful for others, because it there really seems to be more factors to it then just finish. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_colors.gif

AdministratorJune 16, 2010 at 7:23 pm in reply to: Wanting to Buy First pole….what should I get?Mine was a permanent PS pole…worked ok in summer when I was sweaty (I’m a dry person and don’t perspire much) and the room was not cold…but come winter…it just took too long to warm the pole and myself. I made the switch to Chrome and it was a whole new poling experience. Depending on your skin (dry, oily ect) you may work better with one finish over another. For me my perfect grip days are:
Warm 70ish
Humid
I have dry skin…so humidity is my friend!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif -

AdministratorJune 16, 2010 at 4:45 pm in reply to: Wanting to Buy First pole….what should I get?Stainless steel is great if your in a studio where it will get worn down faster…but I still say go with Chrome for the home poler. Especially if you live in a cold climate…I spent many cold winter days grip less and frustrated. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_evil.gif

AdministratorJune 16, 2010 at 2:05 pm in reply to: Wanting to Buy First pole….what should I get?I have all of the finishes and sizes….if your a new "beginning" pole dancer, I would go with the 45mm Chrome. Titanium is very grippy and once you start working on spins (static spins) it can really rip up your hands (dancers new to static spins tend to have a "death grip" on the pole) So I say Chrome 45mm. As for size..I use to say get the 50mm but the 45mm has been so much easier on my joints. 50mm is standard in most clubs, studios and competitions. Some comps use 45mm and I hope it continues to spread cuz I love my 45! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

You never REALLY know the Truth, just the perception THEY the media, want you to see. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif

I would also like to learn viva seat, scissors, and hello boys — all three are holds.
What are the viva, and scissors? I have a wrist seat lessons which is the "hello boys" at least thats what Jamilla called it.
Charely whats a chinese flag spin? Just a spinning flag or something else?

Veena, what do you mean 3 old lessons to replace? I’m hoping to begin your online lessons in a month or so, will there be a change in what’s available? Thanks!
I have 3 old lessons I will be replacing, from then on all lessons will be totally new!!
Veena has just simply been re-recording some of the older lessons.
The new ones are way better cuz of the quality of video stream…….
Otherwise, they are pretty much the same lesson……just way better quality!!Am I correct in this veena??
In addition to higher quality….
They are also full screen
You can now add comments/questions on each lessons
pause
rewind
I include muscles used in each description
I include the AKA Also Know As in the descriptions
You are in formed of your P.O.C Points Of Contact (something I came up with to help the home poler) https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gifKeep them coming everyone!

So far I have had no complaints about my Belly and Pole dance vid, so that’s surprising. I’m sure they’re coming. Every single video I post to YT gets complains and rude comments. Its the nature of those who have no life. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif The way I see it…..its not art if you always do everything the same as everyone else. If someone doesn’t like the way I do something… that’s not my problem. lol https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif

I feel your frustration…I just moved and now have 8ft ceilings and I’m 5’8". I have been doing all of my Shoulder mounts and variations from a seated position on the floor. I can do it standing but I need to make sure I have stepped away from the pole so I am more horizontal going into the move then Vertical. Good luck. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Take care of those forearms!! Like Roxy said, make sure you warm up your hand/wrist/forearms well before dancing and stretch after. If you don’t take care to strengthen or do preventive work like warm up and stretch you will end up with some kind of chronic pain that can put you off the pole for MONTHS! I do have lessons for both exercises and stretches just for the forearms, that are very beneficial for new and seasoned polers. As mentioned said before this isn’t the kind of pain you should push through. Massage works wonders also, happy healing! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif
-
opps guess I missed this post… If any of you are interested or are taking the SV lessons I have some lessons for this very issue….I’ll post the first vid for each series
Strength training for Forearms the first of 7 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stMWRPgaKdA" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Stretching for the Forearms/Hands http://ver3.studioveena.com/lessons/view/3261" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Always stretch your forearms after EVERY pole session! Like the other ladies said, massage does wonders as well. Also that bottom are shouldn’t be taking on much of the weight at all, it should mostly be on the top arm. And when in the bracket position be sure that your bottom arm isn’t crossing over your body.

I know nothing about either of these soooo…. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif I was just asked to post. It is interesting tho….Maybe someone will clear it all up for us. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

No, I’m sorry I don’t. KT just emailed me on Facebook and asked me to post this. I let her know she was welcome to post it herself but she wanted me to. I’m not sure how or where you would get more info https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

I’m so sorry to hear that. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif Sounds like possibly both an issue of poor technique and lack of strength. I have long thin limbs…I’m not hardy in that department, lol…. but its possible to have injury free training. Now of course accidents happen but that’s not what I’m talking about. One other very important thing!….. Make sure your stretching and massaging your hands and forearms properly after EVERY pole dance session!! It didn’t sound like you were taking the lessons here, but just in case…here are some that could be helpful.
Here is the first vid in the lessons for hand/wrist/forearm strength training http://ver3.studioveena.com/lessons/view/3132
Here is the first vid in the section for stretching/massage http://ver3.studioveena.com/lessons/view/3261

Hmmmmm I believe I had said I have a bunch of surprises coming…..Hmmmm…. maaaybe routines would be one of them….just saying…….. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_silent.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_silent.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_silent.gif Once all the old lessons are up dated (there are 6 left) then all other lessons will be totally new AND there will be a BIG surprise later on. If your looking to spin or to slowly turn your superman. Try working on the top hand placement. You can give yourself a little turning motion if you place the top hand so its flexed then as you drop the hips into position use the flexed hand to also turn your body.
