Thats me as well! I can put on a show for a lot of people but when its one on one w/hubby, I cant do it. My mind goes blank, I forget what im doing and it just isnt cute. Ive always been weird about having him watch me, I dont even like exercising near him at home. I just dont think he needs to see me working a sweat while hes doing dishes. It just creeps me out!
I just have to be in the zone before he can watch, lol!

so I decided to go ahead and do it. Im excited and nervous all at the same time. Right now I have a month picked out – October but no date yet. I chose Oct b/c its Breast Cancer Awareness month (something very close to me) and I want to donate a portion of the proceeds to either Susan G. Komen or the Mary Kay Ash Chairitble Foundation (they help fund for research for breast cancer and help fight domestic violence). right now I need to decide on a venue. My initial instinct is to do an auditorium, my only worry is that I may get shot down a few times from places simply because of thier view of pole dancing. Also it would provide room for group performances.
I might be relying on alot of folks for help (it may be as little as a google search or helping set up). Im pulling all the connections ive got out for this one (im connected like Tetris in some places). I may be posting questions just to get a poll going on. If you would like to help out (emails, sponoring, helping me find sponsors) please pm me.
Also if your a studio owner in the MD, DC, NOVA area and want to particpate, please let me know!

I had a friend who was gonna go and she didnt want to go alone so she offered to pay for my pass well she couldnt attend but still paid for me. Shes a huge Jenyne fan and I was talking about it as she was signing an autograph and she personalized it for my friend! Its in the mail and Im waiting for a reaction from my friend.
Too bad I live hours away, I would attend. Somehow my studio doesnt do workshops, we had a pole jam with Sally Ann Giles but that was a couple of years ago.

i do thank you all for supporting me and for commenting. Take care and be well… And yes, my relationship with my sis has been forever changed due to her hurtful words and actions.. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif
There was a speaker who talked about this at convention. Lots of people have lost relationships over it. One woman lost her bff of 10yrs due to pole, but she knew she was gaining new friends in the process. Everytime someone thinks im nothing but a Stripper in Training I think of the chours from the song Breakdown by Seether
Break me down if it makes you feel right
Hate me now if it keeps you all right
You cant break me down with all your might
‘Cause im so much more than meets the eyeI need to pole to this! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_salut.gif

Lunges are you best friend! I do those at the gym when its my lower body day. I also have light weights with me and I do a bicep curl every time I stand up. Try to go deep with them w/o having your knee go over your toe. I used to have issues w/these b/c of my knees (which dramtically improved thanks to pole), but now I can get deep in them and not have an issue. Its also great for the glutes too. Mine has gotten smaller but firmer!

How much sleep do you get a night? This could be another factor. Im also a mom, and some nights im lucky I get 4hours between everything I do in a day. I would start changing your diet first, this will help with energy. Drink water and stay hydrated. Try to squeeze in a nap during the day, its ok if you need to nap.

Ive been performing my whole life and I still get nervous up until they annouce my name as next. I will pace the hallway, listen to my routine song 17x over. Once I get out on stage in the opening pose and the music starts, its all over and down hill from here. I also suggest having a good stretch session the morning of or right before to get you warmed up.
If you music calls for it smile. But most importantly – HAVE FUN!!!

I do all different types of crunches and I do the basic invert from the floor to not only get my body used to the motion but work my lower abs at the same time. Push ups are good too!

for me being a dancer my whole life, I choreograph. I can freestyle when needed but I feel 10x more confident if I choreograph. It helps me avoid the ‘wth do I do now?’ stare. Sissy had a good idea of writting everything on the mirror so you can see what you want your moves to be and how to get in and out of them.
I choregraph mostly by sections. it makes me think better and if I screw up a section, I can go back to the previous and pick up where I left off. I also have those wow moments that I need to put in at particular times.

Well I do think that I am depriving myself. I mean I am so focused on what I can’t eat that I don’t know what I can. I have to admit when groceries are low and so is money I’ll go to burger king or mcdonalds to grab something to eat. I want to eat right so that I can have more energy, but shopping for healthy food is expensive. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif
I know how you feel. Thats why when I see something thats on sale, I try to stock up. for a family of 4 we spend about $100/week in groceries. I noticed I got more healthier stuff at the Super Walmart than anywhere. I also look at the labels – sodium is not a good friend of mine. But most frozen meals are made w/sodium since it is a preservitive. I stock up on lots of fruits and veggies, luckily my kids love veggies so there are no complaints from them.

I work out 4 days a week, 2x pole, 2x gym. At the gym I split up what im working on. One day is arms, chest, abs, cardio; the next day is legs, glutes, abs, cardio. I always work on my rotator cuffs and my wrists as well. I like to change up what im doing so my body cant get used to it.
As for the diet dept, I started clean eating. Ive seen a very slow weight loss but overall I feel better. I was reading the clean eating book and Tosca brought up a good point – weight loss is 80% diet, 10% exercise and 10% mental.
When I get to convention I am gonna talk to Zoraya. I look at her abs and think "shes got 2 kids, ive got 2 kids – why dont I look like that’.
