I’ve run out of x joints 🙁 thanks so much guys for your help.
You have all reassured me for the meantime but I think I definitely want to get the 1000 piece. If anything i think it will be good to minimise the number of extensions im using as well. Will keep trying xpole and see if i can do an exchange otherwise i guess I’ll just buy it.

Thank you both so much for your help!

    So it’s a pole, b pole, 750 and 250 currently.
If I were to get the 1000 that would replace the 750 and 250 and then I would add the 125 (is that the right size, can’t remember off the top of my head?)

I just don’t want to spend over another $100 because they didnt reply to my initial emails and calls asking for help either. Sigh. Maybe ill try it out for 2 weeks until i next get paid and see what I’ll do then.
Good to know that it’s okay for that rubber bit to be exposed though. Thanks 🙂

Well I have no idea if its supposed to be there? The manual doesn’t say anything, the manual doesn’t even say how high the adjuster thread can be unscrewed. It feels okay,I am just knowing ill have to tighten it over the next day or two as the carpet depresses. I would feel safer if I could swap the 750mm for a 1000 and then add the 150mm extension as well, if that makes sense.

🙁 thanks for all your help guys. I’m just really upset over x pole being so frustrating…and I’ve already waited a month to put it up…I’m just impatient haha.

I have called them, no one ever picks up. I have sent emails that don’t get replies. I have even tweeted them, and tbh I’m getting quite a bit fed up. Especially after spending so much money and not even knowing if this is safe to use!!

August 8, 2013 at 7:30 pm in reply to: Hand callouses! Help!

callouses are your skin's way of trying to protect itself. so it's good that they're there, but rips effing hurt.

rips happen when the callous has built up too much, and when it tries to shed, it takes all the uncalloused skin around it too, leaving you with a little hole in your hand. i use a callous shaver when my callouses get too big, or a pumice stone in the shower is also excellent. another really important tip is keeping your hands moisturised… a lot of grip aids can cause rips because they dry the skin out and create more friction, which leads to rips.

DO NOT try to build the callous up more. so you want to "file down" the callous, so there's still a little protection there,  but the soft pink skin underneath isn't exposed.

once you have a rip, it's basically a wound so look after it like one. keep it clean, and keep a bandaid on it. (can be tricky with palms, i usually use a piece of gauze and wrap it around my hand with medical tape so it sticks) this way you can continue poling too 🙂

you should ask your chiro for some gentle exercises you can do to strengthen your back up (if it is at that point in recovery yet)…in my experience with physios i've always had them give me exercises to do at home in between our sessions.

i would also ask your chiro for advice on pole… i hurt my shoulder a while ago (i have a long-standing injury issue with my rotator cuff) at pole and my physio was pretty good at letting me know what types of things i should avoid, and what types of lifts i should be able to do. the most important thing is to listen…to the chiro because they're the professional, and to your body because pain usually means something bad is going on and don't keep doing it 🙂

with a cement roof, you don't have to worry about the ceiling cracking. so i would tighten it up further. I've always had my x pole tight enough so that it is not able to spin "smoothly" when i spin it by hand, but once i'm actually on the pole it spins fine 🙂

okay so i have attached photos…as you can see in one of them, i have about 13cm exposed currently… i am wondering if i should just send back the 750mm pole piece i just bought (do x pole even do exchanges? because i cannot get through to their customer service team!!! they have a lot to answer for as far as customer service goes in australia!) and get the 1000mm instead, and use the A +B + 1000 + 125mm pieces?http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t496/michaelaarghh/IMAG1319_zps939303d7.jpg

the other photo shows what it looks like with the thread closed, with that rubber ring and two holes…i've just never seen this before so not sure how safe it is?

oh i hope it'll be okay. i've contacted x pole and asked if i should get one 1000 mm extension, rather than using a 750mm and a 250mm, so i'll see what they say.

i already bought the 750mm though, so i hope they let me exchange it if the other one is better!

i think ill be using 4 pieces?

    A pole + B pole + 750mm + 250mm …?

that's what the diagram said to use! 🙁

i won't really have the room to do spins on it so i'll mostly be using it for strength training and practicing… as long as i dont go too hardcore it should be okay?

so many nemisis moves atm that i'm working on, but i'm struggling with TG SM into butterfly. dropping my head and my hand down the pole frightens me haha! i can do a normal butterfly fine, i think this one is merely a fear barrier that i need to work on ..

and not pole-specific but the splits!! i stretch, and stretch, and am still like half a metre off the ground 🙁

  • Flexibility is my main hindrance in pole. I have never been able to do the splits. I had a shoulder dislocation when I was 15 that totally messed u my right rotator cuff so i have limited mobility in that shoulder, which is making it difficult now that I’m in the advanced class at my studio.
I also refereed soccer for 6 years, which as you can imagine, involved running for about 16 hours every weekend, leading to incredibly tight hammies and calves. So I’m working on those. I’m stretching every night and attending yoga classes.
It canbe discouraging though because every mm in flexibility that you gain is a mile, but its so small and slow it can be frustrating!

I lasered my underarms and Brazilian (although I still have quite a lot of hair in a triangle above the pubic bone…if anyone wants me to elaborate on this i can haha)
I have pretty bad eczema on my legs. I used to wax pretty often but I ran out of wax a while ago and haven’t bought more. Occasionally ill shave but that irritates my eczema. So most of the time i walk around with hairy legs haha!

Yep, I use shaving cream for my legs to stick on brass. (And chrome) . or a little spritz of hairspray also works. For my hands…it depends on the weather, but mostly I use dry hands if i need it. If I’m really sweaty or clammy ill use tite grip. Honestly I prefer dry hands and shaving cream combo.i know that at some competitions they apply dry hands straight to the brass pole, but I’ve never done that because I’ve felt no need

I've never had this problem…I can't invert yet, but I can go into a flag and hold it for a few seconds…

Your boobs are supposed to be on the side of the pole, if you're not pushing your body out far enough then they will probably get in the way. I don't understand why some of you are getting marks on your chest? Unless I'm thinking of something completely different?

@tacha666 – can you do a  normal butterfly? i'd start with that and then move to extended butterfly 🙂

omg yes!! im trying so hard to do an inverted pencil (not sure what everyone calls it, but when you hold an upside down pencil in split grip)

im strong enough and feel secure enough but its like my ankle is too scared to let go of the pole haha!

Sometimes I look at the older ladies in my class and just think "wow. they must feel so amazing. their bodies have (in some cases) double my age in experience on them and they're doing these amazing things".

    Pole is awesome 😀

    What a fantastic thread idea!!

    Hmmm…

    1. I like my toned arms.

    2. I like that I'm now muscley, and I like that I'm no longer striving for "skinny"

    3. I really like how my boobs have grown in the past 12 months.

    Pole:

    1. I love my superman

    2. I love that I'm getting better with linking longer and longer sequences together…yayyy for endurance!

    3. I'm also so proud of myself for getting handstands and elbow stands! They were beyond a challenge for me, and I finally got there…yay for hard work and perseverance!!
