I too get pain between my spine and shoulderblade on my right side when doing the chopper. I invert with the pole on my right side. I don’t have the issue when doing a basic invert or any other tricks, just the chopper so I rarely try it. I figure I might just not have enough ab strength, not sure.

My husband too has issue with me posting videos or even pictures and none of them are "sexy" or revealing in my opinion. I try not to post to often because of this. He doesn’t want people we know (family, friends or work) to see them because he feels they’ll get the wrong idea.

So tonight I finally managed to flip my legs and catch the pole without letting go before actually straightening out because of the pole burn. Yippee. Except now I have a new problem… Instead of staying stationary I start slowly spinning around the pole and then end up falling off cause my top hand can’t sustain the hold. I posted a vid tonight with my progress.
Any tips would be appreciated.

(1) How long do you practice? Ususally 1 hour with stretching
(2) How often do you practice? 2-3 times a week
(3) Do you just freestyle or do you have a plan of action? Freestyle mostly unless I’m really trying to learn a new move
(4) Do you stretch before, after or before & after practicing? Stretch before but not after
(5) Do you incorporate any strength training & conditioning exercises into your practices? Only pole
(6) Do you self-teach, take classes, or both? Took 6 week beginner course, then 6 private classes and now am self taught although I got to a pole drop in class mainly so I have a spotter available since I’m trying new intermediate/advanced inverts

If I get a chance duirng the week its always at night after dinner, but that usually only happens once a week. On the weekends I usually try earlier in the morning or just after lunch.
Now that its warmer outside I’ll probably try pracing more since my garage will be warm.

My pole is in my garage as well. I just put a large area rug under it and it works well enough. I have a 50mm chrome X pole. I’ve also used a 45mm as well. For inverts and hold I like the 50mm since you have more surface but for spins I like the 45mm since I have tiny hands.

I found a local store that sells them and going to give them a try since the bottom of my feet keep getting sore from dancing on carpet.

THanks for the tip. Now that I think of it after my first practice the palm of my hand and blisters were really tender thent he 2nd day they got worse after using the windex to clean the pole between moves. Can’t wait to see the doctor because I’ve been itchy for several days now.

If you don’t have the upper body and core strength or correct posture (shoulders held back and down) and are attempting inverts or advanced holds this could cause you muscle strain through out your back.

What veena said is so try. When I get together with a couple other girls I’m usually able to do moves I never thought I could but when I’m at home practicing it doesn’t seem to happen all the time. For me its a combination of having a spotter available just in case I fall and a bit of being competitive and being able to keep up with the other girls.
Just keep practicing!

My pole is in my unheated garage as well since hubby won’t let me keep it inside of the house in plain sight(doesn’t want his daughter to see it and go back to his mom and say something).
I put down a nice area rug and lighting and am going to be hanging up some curtains to make if feel nicer. Just need to decorate the area a bit https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I’m right handed. Didn’t get a chance to try since it was way too cold in my garage.

Thanks for the suggestions. I was thinking about inverting on the opposite side of the pole so my dominant arm/hand was the one left holding on. Going to give it a try this weekend to see if it makes any difference.
I’m determined to get the superman!

I’ve been polling on and off for about 10 months now and its still painful. When I first started I couldn’t handle the pain of just doing a basic sit on the pole, now it barely bothers me. As you progress and start trying more difficult moves that require skin on pole contact on your legs, thighs, arms, stomach, etc there will be pain and lots of bruising. As you gain strength and get better at the moves this will go away.

I’ve beeing trying the superman for the past 3 weeks and am just not getting it. Man does it hurt. If you don’t mind me asking what was the thing that your instructor pointed out that you were doing wrong that helped you get it.
Congrats!

Veena I’d love to see a video on all of them https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

That was it. Thanks for the video.
I’m going to give it a try during my practice this afternoon.

Cost is $200 i believe. -
I wish I had a room to decorate in. My pole is stuck out in my unheated garage since my house is all vaulted ceilings. I’m going to hand some curtains around the area though so I don’t have to look at the car or cement walls.
