I voted, I hope you win.
Teeth are a big issue in our house. My hubby just had most of his upper teeth rebuilt. And my Brother-in-law has teeth so bad, he’s had them pulled. He’s got dentures, at 30, and is slowly having them replaced with implants. I feel for you.
That sucks that your dental is so bad… can you sign up for supplimental? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif

You’re on day 4 of having the H1N1 flu, your temp’s still 99.5 and you’re laying on your couch eyeing your pole thinking, "You know, my skins warm enough I should have some great grip. I should try a cross knee release…."
I’ve been stuck inside my apartment for four days and able to do noting but watch tv and gaze longingly at my pole. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_ncool.gif

Sassafrassle wrote:If I’m working on some choreography, I always always start with a song (which may be difficult if your music’s disappeared). I listen to it on repeat (often when I’m walking to work in the morning) and start to imagine what moves go with which bits of the music and actually start the choreo process in my head. Then once I get to the pole, it’s a case of checking to see what of the brain-based routine actually works in reality and looks good and just filling in the gaps. From what I’ve seen online though, it’s not always that common to work in so closely with the music (eg. people just dance and the music is secondary) but that’s just the way I roll. I know that some of the tutors in our studio suggest taping yourself freestyling to a song a couple of times and then watching it to pull out what looks/good/works for you etc. Good luck with whatever you end up doing anyway – competition=exciting! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumleft.gif
I am always choregraphing routines in my head but I never actually try them because the imaginary sissybuns kicks ass. The real life sissybuns can’t do a lot of stuff and gets tired easily, lmao!
LOLS Sissy! The imaginary Sass is much the same – maybe the two imaginaries should jam sometime! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
Count my imaginary self in too… I actually get the crap scared out of me on a daily basis because my co workers know what songs I’m zoned out to by now. they delight in creeping up behind me. I’ve also been caught swishing around to the music on my iPod while in my little lab room. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif

My hubby and I were just talking about the whole violence vs. nudity thing. We were watching Thir13en Ghosts and the showed a guy getting sliced in half by a glass door. Guts and all… very graphic and realistic, then 30 seconds later they blur ut the top half of a naked woman’s breasts. Like not even the nip is showing in the original cut? WTF!? They also show a guy being cracked in half by another guy, and blur out the woman’s butt….
Gotta love censorship.
Actually i grew up in a half naked half undie family. (Lived at mom’s house with my sister, visited my dad’s every other weekend.)
Wandering around in the underwear is no big deal in our house. (I even scandalized a poor neighbor by running out to the car in my robe. Like he know what was or wasn’t underneath it… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cyclops_ani.gif ) It’s kind of funny, my sister’s pretty open about the kids running around in their underwear at bedtime. My nephew’s all for it, my niece never leaves her room in less than her pj’s AND robe… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

Those look great… I wonder if there’s a way to cover them with fabric and make ’em fold? I have no storage space, so anything I own is visible from my entire apartment. (Gotta love lofts.) But I’m pretty sure that even though bamboo is a "softer" wood, it would still hurt like hell to fall on. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif
-
That was wonderful.
But what the hell was up with the lady in the background screaming like it was a Chippendales revue? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif I’m all for audience apprecation but I think she was taking it too far….

It looks just like mine does too. I think it’s like FreeTheSun said, it’s space so it can spin and also so the base can articulate for uneven floors.

Bless you…. I’ve got 42 DD’s and can NEVER find a sports bra that I like. I’m not a huge fan of Uniboob. I’ll have to check out the Champion ones.
I usually wear Bali bras and a Tank top. (Bali concelers are the BEST ever.) But a sports bra would be nice if I ever get to the "bra only" stage.
Oh, and all you "endowed" girls that are looking for cute Bikinis. Both Lucky Jeans and Roxy Swimwear make D cup swimsuits. I can even get my girls into them. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

I know from experience… pole and drunk friends is a dangerous combo. Try not to spin ’em around too much. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_puke_l.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_puke_r.gif

MemberSeptember 28, 2009 at 4:56 am in reply to: Pole dancing shorts. Help. Need your opinion 😀I’d like a pair that would STAY PUT. My shorts always either roll down at the waist or creep up at the hems. I don’t want to have to keep pulling my shorts up or down. Maybe some of that rubbery no skid stuff they use in strapless dresses? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif
And the wierd thing is it’s not like I can predict which will happen.

MemberSeptember 27, 2009 at 4:47 pm in reply to: Dancing for the boyfriend for the first timePick a SLOW and SHORT song, and keep it simple. The first time I danced for hubby, (which was strangely enough just this week) I rocked it out a little too hard. By the time I was done I was sweaty and out of breath. He had "other things" in mind and I just wanted a rest. So skip the inverts and climbs and all the impressive stuff you’ve been working on.
And a schoolgirl skirt usually helps.
Good luck.

Dangi it. I have an adorable on on my car that I got a couple years ago… I just can’t remember where my friend found it. E-Bay maybe?

My pole is super slippery when the air’s on. Since I don’t have control of the air, I’ve tried everything. Best so far is Method’s Best in Glass window cleaner. Better for you then Windex AND mint scented. Mmmmmmmm. Minty Pole. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif
If it’s humid and the air is off then I just use plain Rubbing Alcohol.
-
Veena,
Just trim the flooring so it clicks around the pole. then you wouldn’t have the base to deal with too…

New development, my neighbor’s bringing a highspeed camera so we can see all those awesome moves in slomo, Mythbusters style.
I am so geeked out!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_ugeek.gif

Wow! Now I wanna do gymnastics and go to contortionist school!
Can you go to contortionist school? Is there such a thing?
We actually have a couple "Cirquelike" troops in MN that teach circus classes. One of the classes is actually contortionist school. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_study.gif

Though I’m very tempted to stop telling him when it’s in spinny mode.
I’ve got this image of sissy’s hubby of launching off the pole and flying off into the atmosphere. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

It doesn’t look like it but the hollow piece should slide up. And there’s a little metal collar that slides up against the dome that it should clip on to. I know mine was stuck in one of the tubes. (Thank god I saved them.) It’s aluminum and super light. It should have the little button pins that the hollow tube clips on to.
Hope that helps!

That’s so funny. I was just thinking the same things about the polyvinyl exam gloves at the clinic. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif

One thing I always tell people is, If you’re not happy with your docs, or you feel like you’re not getting anywhere, get a second (Or third or fourth) opinion.
It took me seven docs to figure out what was wrong with me. (I have Ehlers-Danlos, not going to go into it. If anyone’s curious http://www.ednf.org) It took over a year and terrified my mom, but once I knew what was wrong I could manage it. Remember you (and possibly your loved ones) are the only advocate for your health. Fight for it.
The other thing I tell people is, don’t let it get you down. for two reasons, if you let your health take over, then it wins. (My personal mindset.) And a lot of diseases/illnesses are sensitive to mood and stress level. When your mood is bad and depression is high that’s when they flare. Not that I don’t have my share of the doldrums, but I try to keep it at a minimum. I vent but try not to dewll on it. (Not easy I know.) Usually my EDS reminds me before it gets too bad.
I’m pulling for you, good luck and I hope things keep looking up for you!!

Either one might work. They both have citrus juice and oils in them. I’d say of the two Cynthia might be the better option over Daddy-o. It might even leave a little beer residue to work as a grip aid. I would think the sea salt and the seaweed in Daddy-o might leave a little more in the way of slippery residue, and sea salt is abrasive…. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif
Might be worth some investigation.
Your store should have Dark Angels, look for the roll of squidgy black tarry looking stuff.

yay for everyone that loves Lush. I work there part-time and always get these weird "what’s that?" looks.
Wiccy is hands down the best for sore muscles. I also use diluted "I love Juicy" shampoo to clean my pole durning it’s monthly cleanings. It took the shipping grease off when I got it so I figured it would work great for build up and sludge. (I use rubbing alcohol the rest of the time.)
FreeTheSun have you tried Dark Angels? It’s like the bastard child of coalface and angels on bare skin. Also their sandstone soap is great for a pre poling shower to help with grip on days when our building’s ac is on arctic.
