There is a free program called virtual dub that is REALLY EASY to use. I have the directions at home but there are a bunch of youtube videos out there also. It takes less than 30 minutes for me to compress a 10 minute video taken from my camera.

This has been an ongoing discussion on facebook as that is also where the main info for this is housed.

Thinking of a permanent pole for the basement – What do you think?

Your husband is going to kill you……

I wear the 36B. These are the "medium impact" ones. Even the heavy impact ones are cute:

The Danskin sports bras are THE BEST. They have cups so they so not smoosh but actually make you look like you have a chest!

I have this style in about 6 colors now. I have been unable to get the light pink in my size but I WILL find it!!

Are those the OP ones? I tried those on and one color fit well and the other didn’t. Figures, huh?

I too have been having issues with this. I can butterfly and *sometimes* get extended butterfly, but don’t ask me to take my legs off the pole!! I just can’t seem to find that balance point.

I will say that working with a powerball REALLY helped me with the grip on this.

I have seen some really cool acrylic poles but I don’t think they can withstand a whole lot of abuse. I have a powder coated one and the grip on that is almost painful, especially when it is warm outside. I would think that it would scratch really easily, too!

I have played on a home made "spinny" pole, which was basically pvc pipe around a steel pipe. The pvc was painted silver and it had NO GRIP whatsoever.

Do you kick up into an invert when on the ground? If you do then you will not have proper form/strength to do this. I would try standing on your tip toes and trying to invert from there before trying from the air.

For videos I don’t think it will track per se but you can favorite videos which makes them easier to find.

I HAVE to set aside time or it will never happen but there are some nights when life just gets in the way. I seem to have more energy now that it gets darker later in the day but I know that camping season is starting so my life is going to get hectic. I guess it is just like everything else, you have to schedule it and keep your appointment!

I have the same issue. Because of my height and my job most of my work involves me standing at counters that are on the short side, hence my shoulders are rounded. On top of that I have fairly inflexible shoulders and back, which I have been trying to work on. Some people are just graced genetically with that curve…I am not.

I am not sure of the name of it…for some reason a spin up is coming to mind. I have seen it a million times…..

Just found it in another thread here….it is covered in Jamilla’s AOP Vol 3.

I’ve got a class now where they are still kicking up into their inverts so inverts were taken away but I need more than laybacks and climbing so I taught them side climb to cupid/knee swing, basic teddy bear, aerial fan kicks to pole sit, peter pan, pole bend, sidespin/can opener to star, thigh hold, the roxy, cradle variations. You get the idea.

This right here is HUGE. I can see each move as you are saying it. If someone is going to teach pole they NEED TO LEARN NAMES OF MOVES AND VARIATIONS!!!! I work full time and have a 45 minute commute but I am still able to do a little research on a weekly basis and learn what these moves are. No studio owner is THAT BUSY that they cannot go to wikipole or watch a few youtube videos to see what their students are inquiring about.

    OK….end rant.

I am not a studio owner but I will comment about advanced moves. Currently in town there is really no one who knows them, let alone teach them. One studio owner does not even invert, so I have heard. I have stopped taking lessons because it was more of a pole play session than a lesson. Within a year and a half some of the students are outgrowing the instructors and there is no one in town to keep those students interested.

Momma…check out Jasmine Dragons facebook page and the videos that they have from the Maple Fest. This seems like such a great place for kids, I just wish they were a little closer, ya know!
