    Tine,
I love that you posted that link…I’m also a fan of Suhaila https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif Being a Belly Dancer and Pole Dancer and former exotic dancer I find it funny how one shuns the other when at one time is was dirty to be a belly dancer. While I feel there’s some value to holding on to traditions and not fussing I don’t think as an artist we should dictate who can do what with their craft. I have fused the 2 many times (I used to do a mix of belly and pole to Godsmack’s-Voodo on stage….talk about a big no no lol). However, sometimes I enjoy keeping my belly dancing more traditional, it just depends on my mood. I think it’s a shame that there’s a need to outwardly critize someone for being a pole dancer or fusing dance styles. If you don’t like it fine it’s your personal preference but keep it to yourself and respect the artist. Fusing is all about creation and usually breads new styles….look at hip hop it’s all about blending and mixing. I think it really comes to down to artist interpretation and to me that is a beautiful thing https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

So, do we have a time set up for that? I have to drive an hour and a half so I have to plan a bit. Hooray! I’m so excited that I can join in on some fun! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

IDK I’d be very wary of a place that’s asking you to come in and audition without actually having a pole set up to show your skill. I’d definately still go and do a very basic floorwork routine just to see what their about. Keep it simple so you can highlight your ability to effectively break down a move and the details of transitioning out of and into it but be wary. Your a great dancer so you wanna make sure the studio your working for is up to your standards. If their that unorganized about the audition process I have to wonder about the rest of their business opporations!

I actually do this alot…not lately as my pole has been too darm sticky to spin around lol. Anyway my trick for it is first to get into a very good floor reverse aysha then as I’m hooking the leg for my floor scorpio I kinda push off on my hands and let my weight fall back. I also use a little momentum from my leg that’s not hooked i.e. throwing it back and around from the forward position it started in. If you don’t start in the floor reverse aysha it’s hard to create momentun because essentially your throwing the leg/weight back as your pushing off the floor. Hope that helps https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

owe I like that idea! it’s a great way to teach you to dance to different styles of music plus I already have a song in mind lol. Me and my daughter LOVE Gaelic Storm and it’d be so fun to dance to them since I always dance to slow stuff and hard rock.

I’m pretty much the same as Charley. I’ve always taught it first in a half bracket which makes it easier to do with other spins as Charley said. I do however, go back and teach it with a full bracket as more of an intermediate version and to help build strength for full bracket holds/spins.

It’ll stay on may just "crack" a little after awhile….and you are more than welcome to come on up here and get painted up!!! I should really talk to them about making this a group shoot lol.
Is this the guy who does the airbrush painting? I know he was at Kickstand a few times and he was at the Arnold too this year.

    This guy:

Ummm…yeah, that is all airbrushed. I know I have seen a bunch of his other work but cannot find it right now.

Lol that would be Gio and I’ve seen him do even better than that! When you give him free reign over what he wants to do he goes to town…and he happens to have a few pole skills lol https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Lol Sissy…I’ve actually been body painted before and done pole work and for the most part if it’s done right the liquid latex stays on. Chem my friend David who does my pics and I are gonna do a new pole shoot with another friend Giovanni who’s a body paint artist, I’ll have to get you in on it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif As for the gloves I’ve never tried them but I have tried the mighty grip powder and like Sissy I’m a dryhands girl!

If the paint doesn’t stay on maybe it’ll smear off in cool patterns. LOL I wanna go to a super cool body paint photo shoot https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

I wish I could but I’ve not seen it done anywhere. wikipole.org has all the moves listed but as far as a resource that categorizes the move by type and strength level I haven’t found it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif I spent about a month coming up with my own since I like you tried to find something like that. Maybe I’ll have to work on uploading that or something lol.

You will, I know it! It is tricky to get it smooth since your flippin the direction of your body completely. I actually do mine from a pike cause I hate doing it from a gemini so much lol.

Next time I see you you need to show me this. I have yet to figure it out and am not sure if it is due to technique or just my body type/flexibility issues.

Not a problem girlfriend…I find it easier to do and I know with your skills you’ll have no prob doin it!!!!

Hey girly, you shouldn’t be experiencing that much pinching. Yes some serious inner thigh pain for a little while but your arms should be holding more of the weight. What Chem said about doing a side V while starting your twist is what should be done to avoid that. Get in your gemini and press the upper part of your inside thigh against the pole to stablize while you move your hands into position and then open out into V position and twist around locking your thighs at the end and lettin your hips sink into the move. Veena’s vid on this is really good but keep workin on it!

Empyrean and Charley are both right on all there advice! I will also stress to make sure you set out a clear business plan and really think about the type of clientelle your trying to attract. Also, as Charley discussed with being advanced as an instructor. You should have a good foundation to start with and definately know the proper way to execute moves and modify them if needed. Knowing a variety of moves is important and know the "categories" they fit into really helps when your trying to eveluate where a persons at physically and what the next progression should be. For instance you’d never have someone go from learning a star to a marley in the same night…it’s not a natural strength progression and you need to develop someone’s strength and hold better before you’d make a leap like that. I don’t think an instructor needs to know every move there is out there to teach but you should understand all the types of moves there are to know how to safely progress someone. Make sure you sit down and come up with a really solid lesson plan and how you want to execute it (i.e. strength/flexibility training).
