Brass?? Brass is usually the "rip the skin" culprit https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

a lot of new polers want to do split grips WAY too soon…you’ll notice some recent posts about forearm pain! Stay away from these until you have increased your strength and flexibility in your wrist/forearm/elbow.
ALWAYS keep your shoulders back and down…this will help prevent a lot of back, neck, shoulder injuries

red is the least of my concerns…I have a HUGE vein that runs up my forehead and it POPS out big time when I invert…makes me look like a muscle head! lmao! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

it dosen’t go away…lol only suggestions are to dance in dim lighting, wear hair long so it can cascade over your face while inverted, do arm and head movements that hide your face…l have the same problem! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

The only thing I would suggest is maybe doing shoulder mounts from the floor…they are hard but after a while your sm will be effortless!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

unfortunately, this is a common injury among "newbies" bc of the strength and flexibility needed in the forearms. Usual culprit are split grips…best bet is to take some time off to let them heal…which won’t happen if you try to "work through" the pain. I did this and ended up having to take two months off because I had hurt them so bad…I couldn’t even pick up a coke can with out screaming out in pain. Make sure to warm up your hands/wrists/forearms properly before dancing and stretching afterwards. If you feel pain…STOP! Do strengthening exercises for the hands (grips or squeeze ball). I’m sure if you have Veena’s lessons she probably has videos showing some exercises. Good luck! I don’t wish that pain on anybody!

I taught myself,,,mainly off of youtube but I had checked out Vertical Dance website about two years ago. I’ve also been lucky enough to have had some lessons with Karol, Alethea and Jenyne…and a fun Jam with Amber! Unfortunately, there isn’t a "true" pole studio around here….but if there had been I would have done that…it would have saved me tons on injuries. But on the other hand I know most moves inside and out because I had to break them down when I was learning them. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
