I remember like a little over 10 years ago after the step thing came the indoor slide /skate thingy! I wanted it and thought it looked so fun, never got it and it didn’t seem to last long,, what it was was a flexy sheet of something with "stoppers " at the ends and you wore booties over your shoes. I have seen something more expensive and substantial in a phystical therapy setting where your shoes are placed in holders that slide over a track but I don’t remember if also rocked side to side or stayed still while you moved.

If you don’t already have the Jamila set she has conditioning pole oriented moves on each DVD.

congrats on the splits, I have been taking the advice given here and 3-4 times a week I’ve started stretching after working out and holding each for 2 mins with a timer and Its actually only been regular for the last couple weeks and I may be the most flexable I have ever been! Still no splits and it still is very awkward but still trying to get there.

I have to say I have DVDs and take a weekly class. My class is conditioning and tricks. meanwhile in the next town over there is a class where dancing is more involved. I’ve thought about maybe doing both. I can do what I think looks good but I love the idea of a class where there is repition and explanation, variations. I think it would take a strong person to be able to look very professional without lessons and someone saying that leg should be straighter ect. however with that being said I’m not sure my form is corrected enough either with classes! I’m also a slow learner.

I actually have this. I found it to be interesting but really it’s like the conditioning and strength moves taught in a pole class that help you move along but with a resistance band. If I could just remember every move my instructor taught me it would be just about the same. I use the resistance band at home but not much. This video was kinda expensive but if you are a DVD shopaholic it can’t be helped- I am too!

We had ours up in the living room and the girls have only seen me spin unsexy before and they themselves love to climb and touch the ceiling and spin on spinny mode. Anyway one time my husband’s ex- wife came to pick up and came in and said"oh, a stripper pole". I cringed since we never called it that in front of the kids.
However I think she used it as slang because she never commented or asked r/t to it ever since. Seriously she would do it to his face if so. I may even call it that to friends but I think I say " the pole" more.
    funny story

When I first got my pole I messed around on spin without classes I could do that ( only a little in reality looking back) but then I went to class where it was static and kept my pole static and then honestly I thought for a second that spinning is not as hard, BUT then I went back to spinny to try some stuff that looked awesome in spin mode and it is REALLY difficult. I guess if we’ve exprienced both we all figure that out at some point.
I also found some moves look best on spinny mode.

I too have a problem with the pain. So far I have found I have been able to do it longer than before but I imagine If I just keep doing it longer and more often it is bound to get easier, but it would be great if there were some pointers- like using sand paper to roughen the area up! LOL- just kidding I haven’t heard anyone suggest it yet.

so far I have not started taking two classes a week, but I’ve got a plan on getting there. I have enough to work through rut wise that is challenge enough. As for time alone –my pole has been moved into the office where there is a mirror which will help and is a lot more private!

    2010? How about..
writing neater ( a big problem I like to write heavy)
more pole strength and tricks that involve taking hands off when upside down. ( could involve weight loss)
looking for moments or opportunities that could help define my life
making more friends and being a better one

    2009 a difficult year…2010 watch out!

I am thinking about this or the beginner version. my husband and I are out of shape and we have a family reunion kind of thing in Rhode Island in the summer and it would be nice to enjoy the beach and some new vacation clothes.
I’m not sure If I should get the extreme or beginning, I’m not sure if it would be important to me to finish the whole workout each tim or not.
    What about anyone else???
I am kind of at a small plateu with some pole stuff until I get stronger and maybe a little lighter.
I kinda feel like… I’m 30 and life is way tooo short and I gotta do something so I can enjoy more of my life and being more fit would help me do more things. If I only appreciated it earlier!

All my life I have had a larger behind when younger and thinner too. For being really shy it got me attention I really wasn’t wanting and didn’t understand at the time. I never tucked in shirts. My job now requires it. Now I’m a little thicker in the legs and had a baby too. At a really young age I learned how to take a pic from the waist up. I have thought of how a vid would reveal what I felt I ‘ve been trying to hide. My pics on the pole I just put up were like an I give up this is me now truce.
You look great! We never appreciate what we have while we still have it! Number one bonus….You can do the booty shakes that others may not r/t the pole! I just recently started to appreciate that…now if I could get the strength and conditioning too even without weight loss I could live with that.

Hip hop booty shakin is my go to but I also have found a recent like for the remakes by alternative people like lollipop, ride it my pony, and there is few others, kinda sexualized alternative for me

(‘ve only looked at 1 and disc 2 but it seemed to me like mostly they were on static but when she did the preview of the move and the re cap after doing it several times, the before and after were on spinning mode

I did and watched part of the second dvd in the series. Wow! variations for exits out of things, the most information on spotting techniques, and emergency exits! What I didn’t look at yet was there is conditioning relative to which DVD you are working on skill wise and cool down ect. I like that she explains things that we wish someone would tell us while we are trying to learn new stuff.
