Kobajo I love the difference from the new tricks to how well you have learned to transition your moves

I do workshops for pole routines at the studio and having never done any formal dance training it is a challenge.

The way sissybuns told is great way to do a routine if it seems too complicated to work out the counts of a song. Figure out which moves you like best for you and make it a point to put them in a particular order while dancing. This is fun and allows some spontaneity.

If you decide you want to break the song down into counts (usually 8’s), you need to sit and listen the the song thoroughly. At this point I will dance to the song once or twice to get in the mood. I start with the first minute and figure out how many 8 counts there are. Then figure out what I am going to do count by count and i write it down so i can remember it and easily change with out getting it messed up and confused.
Writing what goes on each 8 count lets you focus on one task at a time. It also allows you to move on without feel like you have to memorize it all at once. As you are figuring what goes into each 8 count also make sure each for trick that you give yourself enough time to get in and out of the move.
Practice Practice practice. You don’t always have to start from the beginning thats why you have the 8 counts written down. The more you practice it the more natural it will look and feel

Not all places do dance routines… in fact the place i work we rarely do dance routines and if we do they are workshops or part of seductive.
Fine a place that works on tricks and that might show you dance moves but doesnt expect everyone to do them.
The thing about classes that don’t do routines though is there is A LOT more independent time because the instructor needs to show many moves some of which you may know already and some you may not.
ALL of the studios around me don’t even do sessions they are all walk in or call to register that day. Sometimes it can be hectic not knowing exactly who will show up but you should sill pick up some new things and also be instructed on ways not to hurt yourself as well as spotted

$25 to $40 a class? All of the studios in philly pay at least $50 a class (we get $5 per head for anyone paying cash over 10 girls), but all of the studios are large and can fit 20-28 girls comfortably with 10 poles in one studio and 14 in the other. agreed with georgiamarie most girls are better off sharing a pole especially in beginner’s classes vry few women are fit enough to sustain for a whole hour or more without breaks

Contracts… you will need them for everything waiver, pole parties, packages, private lesson. It should have what they receive. how much they pay dates. limitations, cancellation policy, etc

When you first start you will MOST likely not have enough business to have other instructors. You will have to be the main instructor (unless your backer has that much money)

if you are going to have other instructors make sure they are not just good at tricks and/or dancing but that they can actually explain the move adequately several different ways even if you understand them the first time. Just because there are no strip clubs in your area does not mean there are not former strippers in your area or women who have been learning pole dance in their homes also.

I am paid by direct deposit and like it that way since it is easy to keep track how much money i make and how much to put aside. Most of the studios in this area the instructors are independent contractors. For class i get paid the same whether i show up a half hour before or 10 minutes and for parties i am paid by the hour.

You should ask the lingerie store to be your backer sensual fitness in stroudsburg pa did that and it is a fantastic studio.

As an instructor some of the topics i dont know enough about. (ie: software and insurance) Hope this was helpful

Question for you. Have you ever been to a pole dance studio?

I include pole situps for my intermediate and advanced in my Strength and technique class. A lot of people hate them at first but some of my students have stopped doing regular sit ups because pole ones give a better range of motion working way more.

Pole sit ups come highly recommended for any poler who can securely hold a fallen angel, thigh release, cross ankle release.

I also only wear pleaser (tony shoes are actually the best but more expensive) and they hold up well usually i get a good two months out of them before i take them to the shoe maker to repair something (broken clasp, missing skid, sole coming up) Shoe repair will save you a lot of money.

two months is good for me and a pair of shoes since I teach in them no less than 10hrs a week but average about 16hr in them. Other brands only last me a couple of weeks.

Does ANYONE else feel like an ultimate shoe destroyer?

Musical poles and Money Scatter- We do these both at my studio back to back and it ends with prize.
Musical Poles – Break the ladies up into even groups usually groups of two or three work best. (if you have several poles and a lot of girls sometimes it is easier to do two groups at a time) We will say 9 Ladies 3 groups of three.

Each group has to dance around the pole but not touch it while the music is playing (touching is disqualification) When the music stop first girl to grab the pole with two hands on the pole wins. Same thing for the other groups.
At the end you would have three winners. Whoever wins has a spot in in Money Scatter. Then the two girls who lost that round go again to see who the other person in the 2nd game will be. Now onto Money Scatter

Money Scatter- You will need two (to three blind folds) and lots of fake money. Blind fold the two girls and make them hold onto the pole. Scatter the fake money around them . When the music starts they get down on the floor. crawl around, and try to scoop as much money in their shirts as possible. When the music stops i make them drop any money in their hands. after wards they count out the bills and whoever has the most wins a prize.

it isnt a sexy game but it is fun and always gets everyone laughing and excited
