Yes, X-Pole only makes removable poles. In their defense, they are plenty solid – people have changed from a permanent pole to an X-Pole and said the X was more stable (still your decision, though).

On the original X-Poles, you don’t notice the holes at all. I’m not sure about the new models, but I’m assuming that you wouldn’t with those, either.

I saw your thing on Facebook… you said the ceilings are 13′? Is that why you can’t use your regular X-Pole, then?
Can you use an X-Pole safely at 13′??? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif I’d let you borrow my extensions for the weekend if you want… I have a 50mm chrome, don’t know if it’s the same as yours – but I have the lower main pole piece, the 750mm extension, plus the 2 smaller standard extensions. Just thought I’d offer – I’m a few hours west of you. *shrug*

I just use the video function on my digital camera (Sony Cybershot), and set it on a nightstand. It works.
I used to use Windows Movie Maker, but you have a Mac, so you can spare yourself the frustration of working with that program… it works, but it sucks. I don’t use anything at the moment because I use neither Windows or Mac.
