Webmaster, I would hope it stays that way. That's all i'm saying.
Its not an unknown fact that these kinds of post start bitter debates and even more so Chem is what I call a "instigator" or better yet a "shit starter" who sickingly enjoys making people debate even when there is nothing to debate. Hense why i rarely post on here anymore. She gets to be her usual passive-aggressive bully self and you come to her rescue. Not suprised. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gifBut anyway, i gave my thoughts as the OP asked. Please carry on. I hope to hear more views on the

……Round 1….FIGHT! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rambo.gif
Different people = Different experiences = Different views.
So lets put the gloves down for a change and NOT turn this into another battle royal on who's better. Not everything needs to be challenged Chem. AerialG gave her opinion/view/experience like she was asked, nothing more, nothing less.
And to the OP, i have had the same debate for myself and i feel the Xpole stage one just looks like its more "put together". I guess i like the thought of the bottom bars for extra security and that things are more "locked" into place rather then set. Its heavier and more work to put together but i would feel just a little more secure. That's MY thoughts on it though from watching such videos. I do not own one or the other. Good luck on the decision!

Artistic dramatic style pole is one of my absolute fav styles out there. And must i say, what the heck is in Russia's water!?
They pop out like hybrid pole dancers that are death defying good. -
I call the one i'm always on in class "The Silver Devil" and refer to it as such.

Which itac do you have?
From my personal experience recently, the new "extra strength" itac is like a greasy oil mess. While the "normal" formula is like super glue. I know there are posts on that very subject trying to determine if itac changed something or not. So that might be something to keep in mind. -
Michelle Stanek and Oona Kivela absolutely.
Both have impeccable timing and really have a way with interpreting music.Personal fav videos of theirs are:
Michelle's 2012 USPDC performance…. http://youtu.be/VrUsrKq4AZI
and Oona's PoleArt 2010 performance….http://youtu.be/4Jx1S7dNQ9c

I'm glad the OP posted this cause as a soon-to-be teacher, all this is really insightful
As for me, I am with portableninja on this.
Me and my teacher just seemed to click from day one. She's bubbly, funny, patient and is learning just like me. We also share the same insane passion and ironically the same birthday. We're very much alike in some ways but totally different in styles and it just works beautifully. We learn off each other and she never acts like she's better then me. I don't feel like i'm paying for her attention or friendship. She just wants to share her passion with people. I hope to be just like her. -
I have 2 of these in black and red. They are stretchy but snug…ever so slightly cheeky. Very comfy and durable. Like a nice pair of boyshort undies but thicker material.
http://www.discountdance.com/dancewear/style_TB113.html?pid=6153&Shop=Style&SID=433796106I also have these in rainbow zebra. Lighter thinner material {think bike shorts} and not as cheeky. But really fun and comfy. I prefer the other pairs though.

Discount Dance Supply.com is my go to place.
I got my leg warmers, sports bras and shorts from them. I'll be buying my performance costume from there as well. -
I thought it was just me but i noticed the same thing.
My teacher has the i guess old stuff cause its amazing, like freakin glue.
A bunch of girls got there own and its oily, like grease with no stick whats so ever. Booo! -
I won't be teaching totally, not yet anyway.
She's still instructing the class, I'll be more or less shadowing her and helping out. Kind of like dipping my toes in the teaching waters. lol. I'm usually really chatty and helpful in class anyway. I just want to make a good impression and show her i can do the job when it comes.

I took jazz and ballet in my entire adolescent years and it has its advantages in pole.
Jazz is good if you like fast and timing oriented movements.
Ballet will drill "point your toes!" forever in your brain but will add grace/lines.Personally, now if i were to take any dance classes it would be lyrical or contemporary. It adds a element of emotion and connection to the music.
Might as well share my fav. video while i'm here. This is how amazing adding contempory to pole looks. I strive to be this epic one day.

Before pole:
I was a hermit, a-typical stay at home mom who did nothing but clean and cooked. I had no hobbies or interests. No friends nor desire to socialize. I hated my body and had a lot of issues with body-dimorphic. I was basically bored with life in general.Pole now:
I have something to be excited about every Friday & Saturday. I get to escape to "me time land" with the most wonderful teacher, whose become like an older sister. A pole buddy in class who i always laugh with. I learned my body is freaking awesome, stronger then i ever thought, and can do things most people can't. My old dancer me has returned in full force making me extremely dedicated and pushes me out of my comfort zone. Its something only I do and people around me think its bad ass. The best part ……is the 4 friends i made through it who are my pole sisters. I love them to pieces. -
I own the Discount Dance 48" stirup ones and love them to death.
I'm 5'5 and they go well up past my thigh but i just fold the top lip down and let it be a little droopy past the knee {got have room to move!}. They never lost there stretch, stay up, are super warm and comfy. -

MemberDecember 2, 2012 at 7:01 pm in reply to: Pole and Heels, and pole and bare feet….that is the topic, lolMy studio teaches everything barefoot although if you have the heels you're more then welcome to use them. My teacher is no stranger to them and does her freestyles in them beautifully. No one so far has been brave enough {besides my teacher}.
I'm a 105% barefoot girl. I tried heels twice and i felt like a awkward deer. Felt no way sexy and it hindered my natural style. So i just don't bother with them.

As someone who gets motion sick in a vehicle very easy, the spin pole use to scare the hell out of me. It felt simply unnatural. BUT….giving it a go little by little each class i got use to it. Sure, i get dizzy if i do to much or if it throws me into a warp spin of doom. I have grown an amazing overall tolerance to it. I take breaks inbetween to "unwind" and do the best i can to make it go at a decent {not warped} speed. if my stomach flops at any point i give it a break for the day. Like all things in pole, baby steps.

I use to be the same exact way!!!
If my teacher even looked at me in class i would freeze, break into a cold sweat and stumble till she left me alone. I would never ever EVER freestyle. I refuse to lift up or take off my tank top. This humors me cause i use to perform and dance on stage my entire adolescent years. So this new timid me was driving me insane. It was literally holding me back too.Anyway, overtime i kind of had to push myself to get over it, little by little. Baby steps basically and with a little confidence help from my teacher. Now 5 months in I'm one of the "cool kids" of the class. I don't care if anyone is looking and i just zone out. I performed parts of my upcoming performance in front of class mates 3 times recently. Something completely out of my comfort zone. First time was absolute horror. I shook like crazy, my stomach dropped and i froze. Second time i had a head cold but did my best. Got too winded and it screwed up my concentration. Third time i just hit a zone and nailed it. In front of people that use to be snide to me no less! It was like the final blow to that timid shell. I was shaking with adrenaline when i was done and it was the best feeling ever.
.
So I would say just keep pushing yourself little by little out of your comfort zone. My anxiety still jumps to my throat when i know I'm going to be watched but i learned its ok. Push past as the lovely Alethea would say. You'll amaze yourself and that's all that matters. -
Come on baby, Alice needs an Alice costume……

I guess you can say I'm on the other side of the that green grass.
I have the years of dance under my belt, which have instilled wonderful lines, pointed toes and a dancers creativity/flow in pole. But when it come down to it, I really dislike or at least have no interest in tricks. If i could just do spins, twirls and dance on the floor all day i would be thrilled. Tell me to do something as simple as an invert I'm almost instantly annoyed. My body hates tricks. I think they look amazing when other people do it. I envy the hell out of those who are bold and just nail trick after trick in my class. I do them and my graceful body just loses its damn mind. Where do i put what? When? Huh? Sure my toes are pointed, but in my mind I'm completely uncomfortable. Its rather funny cause my teacher is a trick junkie. We bust on each other all the time cause of our differences. Yet lately we've been picking up each others quirks. I've gotten more "open" to tricks and she's showing just a touch of dance in her routines. To bad we couldn't be one person. lol.

If i could win the credits for this by January that would be freakin sweet…..

I had the same problem 2 months ago!
I listen to every song i could think of but none fit. I did find 2 songs that were ok, but in the end i just didn't like them THAT much. They didn't inspire me enough. Then one day, listening to some random songs via Songify, a song came on that i never heard of and it HIT. It was THE one. It was like electricity shot through me. Just like that. Ever since then I've been doing the routine for it and the song never gets old. I could hear it a trillions times. It speaks to me. I can imagine its performance. It just all falls into place.
My teacher ironically had the same problem and all i did was suggest a few songs that i thought fit her style or could see her doing. She ended up loving one of the songs and is rockin the sh*t out of it in compatition this month. So really, just open your mind and let it find you. Ask friends for suggestions. Listen to random stations on Songify/Pandora/Songza/Grooveshark. When you find it, you'll know.

https://www.studioveena.com/users/view/4f4284d9-65c8-445a-9126-32920ac37250, Its not a bad thing at all! Once a dancer always a dancer.
I use to wish i was that little sexy walking vixen like Alethea but then i realized that my dancer "mannerism" were what made me stand out. So instead of feeling awkward trying to be someone I'm not, i embraced my inner dancer. Now I'm the dubbed "dancer" of the class and my teacher actually told me she would love to learn what i know. So love it and make it your own. 🙂 -
I am your typical trained dancer who walks on the balls of their foot or does the lyrical foot drag. I don't think my foot knows how to un-point.
