I have always taught chair as a half bracket spin…I think half bracket makes it much easier to combine it with other spins. The only time I have done a full bracket chair is when it is out of boomerang or carousel. I think you get more versatility using the half bracket version and it’s an easier spin that can be taught before full brackets.
My 2cents.

I have very small hands, my hands don’t even touch finger to finger on a 45 and I use 50’s and even teach on them.
I have ordered a 45mm ps pole (we’ll see if it ever arrives) but I plan on using it only for performances since they are much easier to get on with. Otherwise I am still pretty happy with my 50mm and it was a tough choice to go with the 45.

Yes, this is way too soon for inverting. You need work on coordinating your moves and your body around the pole. Work on spins and revolutions around the pole, do everything on both sides.
For strengthening work on windmills/fan kicks, climbing, basic pole sitting, you can even do some fancy dismounts from a sit like bring your legs behind you and doing carousel legs as you slide down the pole. If after a month you have all of these types of moves and movements perfected there are up right poses you can work on such us a the basic crucifix, the thigh hold, peter pan, basic plank, spin combinations, half bracket spins.
My students generally don’t invert 3-4 months as the earliest and the norm has been about 6 months. Even my intermediate students spend more time right side up. There are so many things that can be done with your feet towards the ground.

Much of the time in beginner classes I show people how to take the pole moves we do and do variations on a wall so they can practice at home.
If you really want to mix it up add a little chair work in there too!

Hi Saphire! Great to see you here too! Are you still over at Bobbi’s?

I have heard that the Star Stand Alone pole comes undone when you spin left…this is a huge issue for me because I spin both ways. I have also ordered one and they say that the problem is fixed.
I have used platinum stages poles for a long time now and I have to say not all ps poles are equal. Some are great…others not so much. I generally prefer stainless steel so they are my only option. Out of 4 Ps poles I had 2 had to get new ceiling plates, 2 others didn’t thread with the extra extensions and just recently my pole went through the ceiling plate…when I called them they tried to charge me almost $50. Trust me the pole going through the ceiling plate was not my fault I spent a year and a half taking them up and down I think I know how to put them up.
The pole went through the cieling plate? Are you serious?????
I’m debating on whether or not to sell PS poles….something is keeping me from it…..
Yes! I need to post those pictures of it. When I toild them what had happened they made it out like I installed the pole wrong. I’ve been using these poles for nearly 2 years. Thank goodness it was under the stud because the adjustor rob put a dent in my ceiling.
You should still sell them though because many dancers want brass or stainless steel. It opens up your options.

I can’t do the splits but I know how to do it. I’ll make a tutorial when I get back to the studio on Wednesday.

I have a Sony HD CX100 cam but I can only use it in the studio since you have to be super far away to get a good frame.
I use my webcam at home, the quality is not super great but clear enough to see some moves.
I’m looking at getting a point and shoot digital camera with HD vid recording if I can.
I have adobe premiere but it doesn’t do well on my laptop and I have movie maker and picassa.
I have used and liked:
Corel Video Studio
Video Spin

I found it a lot less painful then the kneehold (which I still can only endure occasionally). I’ve only done daredevil close to the ground, and got into it the same way as the kneehold. If I can get over the fear of hanging face down, I’ll prob. try it higher up next week.. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
I go into it like you would a butterfly because it helps me stay facing down – which was the part that was freaking me out so bad when I was trying it.

Intersting….We have a huge October event happening here and we were thinking about doing a pole comp – except I don’t want my studio putting it on because I want to compete in it…so maybe somehow we could tie in with you.
