Today you’ll revisit the Shoulder mount on spin and work with the Ayesha, using any of the grips. I’ve placed both full length tutorials in front of the warm up so watch those first, then warm up. Watch and practice with the drills and finish by using the REPS listed, choosing whichever grips you’d like.

Pro tip: You may have heard the cue, square your shoulders and center body with the pole for Ayesha. This cue is unnecessary and creates a more difficult position for the dancer to hold themselves.

When practicing the Ayesha remember there’s no need to center your body with the pole, instead bring the shoulder of the between the legs arm, not the overhead arm, towards the pole for a more secure Ayesha while allowing the hips shift to the side. Don’t forget when using a forearm grip the shoulder comes to the pole, like you’re hugging the pole. With all that said, if you find you feel more balanced with the pole centered on your body, it’s not going to hurt you.

Remember to practice chin tucks if you feel unstable.

Allow the videos to play in order and follow along. Feel free to pause anytime you need to.
