awww i loved SissyBun’s reply too!!!
"All we see is what is shown to us (unless of course you’re gay lol) which is usually on television and in books and magazines. So we think that that is how it’s supposed to be but it’s not. Men see women naked and they know the truth"
>>>> THAT IS SOOO TRUE!! -
All right VEENA. I’m starting to come out slowly but surely. I’m Joni from mississauga, ontario. I have been pole dancing for 2 years. I’m 43 and just felt so much older than you all in your 20’s and 30’s, so I HAVE BEEN HIDING just watching all the great vids and great topics. BUT i am slowly creaping out of the woodwork. I have learned alot from you all and I THANK YOU ALL for that. Joni https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif
aww don’t be shy, come out of your shell! (i know i shouldnt be talking lol). but seriously theres so many older women here that are so awesome, i cant even imagine that i’ll ever get to their level! so its not really about age anymore..
and as far as talent goes, i actually enjoy watching newbie vids as much as the advanced ones… so i think its awesome that everyone is posting! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif -
omg wikipole is awsome. didn’t know it existed until now. thanks for the post

thanks for your replies everyone https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
yah i actually took 4 or 5 classes at Aradia a while ago, but i have a pole at home now and i prefer learning at home for now (plus classes are kinda costly). maybe if i become advanced i’ll look into professional training https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
i have to say though i was by far the youngest in my class! there was no one else in my age group lol. -
lol i loved this when i first saw it, and it made me laugh again now…
man, those people in the subway are so dry, they should have more of a sense of humour. they looked so uncomfortable lol. lmao @ the girl in the glasses…
if i was there i think i’d be laughing my butt off and enjoying the show
ahh.. one day i’ll muster up the courage (& strength lol) to do that… i wouldn’t put on a show or anything but i’ve always wanted to give those subway poles a go https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_jokercolor.gif

MemberAugust 9, 2009 at 7:10 pm in reply to: Difference in reactions to telling people I pole danceLOL I love this thread!!! I’m so posting this in my blog too!
Here are the reactions I got:
My mom: (She’s the one who suggested I give poledancing a try )
My best friend of 11 years: .. YOU?!?!?!! Poledancing!!?!?
My best friend of 8 years: *silence* .. What?? … your mom is WAY too cool… (I’m not sure she meant that in a good way, judging from her tone lol).
My brother: Why do you always have to have your stupid weird ideas? Who gets a POLE?
Me: Have you ever even seen poledancing?
Him: Yeah, in MOVIES, with strippers shaking their ass on a table!
Me: It can be for fitness too.
Him: Then why don’t you just get a gym membership like normal people?
Me: Because this is a FUN way to get fit. It’s like gymnastics!
Him: Then why don’t you go learn GYMNASTICS?Omg and the best one was my dad.
Brief background: I have a VERY strict dad (it’s in our culture). Like- even though I’m almost 21, I have to be home at midnight, and he wouldn’t let me go outside in short skirts, etc. And dating is out of the question until I graduate lol!! So I have to hide anything I do from him.Originally I thought I’d hide my pole every day, but then I got tired of installing it and I kept it up.
So today he came home and was in a rush, and our building’s fire alarm was going off like crazy. He walked in my room looking for something, and when he saw the pole in the middle of my room, he FROZE, stopping in his tracks and looking absolutely TERRIFIED, as if he was looking at a 3-headed dog or something. I thought SHIT what was I thinking?? So the 1st thing I said is “Don’t worry it’s removable!” And he whispered “What’s this??” still looking bewildered. And I said “It’s for exercise..” And he just LAUGHED!!! He’s like “shit I got scared, I thought our building was falling down or something and they brought this here” and he just walked out the room on to his business. LOL!!!!! I’m soo relieved and I can’t stop laughing!!
I think the impression that my dad has of me is soooo far from a girl who might wanna work in a club (not that I have anything against that) that it didn’t even cross his mind to associate it with that image!!! LOL of all the things I expected, this wasn’t it! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif -
yah i had a bit of a hard time today figuring out the extension thing. according to them i can use either a 125 OR 250 one for my ceiling, but the 250 one was too big, and at first it seemed like the 125 one was too small.
i cant help you on that, but that’s awesome that you could do those moves on your 2nd day!! wow.. everything is incredibly hard for me.

I was doing the fireman & backward spin- the easiest ones in my opinion. And a weaker attempt at the carousel & chair spin.
I guess I’ll know in 1-2 days if I recover from the pain.
the way it seems now, I duno if I can even imagine myself EVER learning to invert lol. maybe some people just don’t have the strength no matter what. But I duno we’ll see…
-
Lol yah apparently you can put it anywhere.
Man all I was doing today were 2 basic spins… and right now my right forearm & wrist pain is KILLING me. I think my problem is gripping too tightly but I duno how else I’d be able to have control by not doing that. I hope this pain is normal for 1st timers.. ouch… oh and a simple climb of the pole isn’t as easy as it looks, I wasn’t even strong enough to do that lol.

Won’t your pole rust if you clean the screw parts with soapy water?
my x-pole manual says keep away from humidity & wetness..
-
Thanks sooo much everyone.
So I asked my building manager and he said the ceilings are concrete!!! WOO-HOO I get to put my pole anywhere!!!
lol no wonder my stud finder was beeping all over the place…
I’m gonna go install my x-pole right now.
thanks again!-happy girl https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
