Awesome, thanks for that post! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif Very handy.
I do want to point out to the new polers…. don’t buy the peek a boo, Carmen Electra, Flirty Girl, or My little sexy poles. These may look like a good deal but you’ll be very disappointed with the pooooooor quality. Just ask a bunch of ladies here! The cheap poles aren’t worth it. I am extremely annoyed they are even on this list!! They are evil and I hate them https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_twisted.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
One other note.. The list says you can buy the X pole in a brass finish, that is not true. Chrome, Titanium Gold are the only finishes we sell in the US.
The rest of the poles listed are all good quality poles https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

I would say classes first, but only if you find a good studio that will make sure form is a focus. There are tons of studios out there and I believe Sheila Kelly’s classes are more about sensuality and not tricks. I"m not saying she’s not good, but I don’t think that’s what your looking for. The first and only class I ever took for pole, they didn’t go over proper form and I became very board not only that, the instructor ended up having me teach the girl that I was sharing a pole with. Not a good use of my money or time!! I believe Polecat Power is in the LA area and I THINKthey really focus on injury prevention and form. I would try a class or 2 they you will know if you really love it. If your like all of us here, you’ll be addicted and have to buy a home pole anyway. LOL
Anyone with a background in gymnastics, fitness industry or dance, really seem to do well by training in home. Many of the principles you already know can be applied to pole! If you go with at home learning, get a quality pole and lessons, or dvd, I only own one dvd and its crap! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_evil.gif I have seen a few others and I would say Jamillas Art of Pole is great because she covers form and safety, (at least in the parts I have seen.) In my online lessons I always go over proper form in my lessons and I include strength work and if you ever have any question you can always email me. We can also meet in the chat room and I walk you through any trouble spots.https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
The whole point of Studioveena.com is to make pole dance as accessible and safe as possible for the busy home poler https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Also, if you look at Veena’s lessons, you can see the types of exercises she does for strength training. Even if you can’t see the actual lesson, you can still see the title of the lesson… It’s also a good way to get an idea of progression just to look at the order of the lessons even if you can’t actually watch them, and not all of them necessarily have to be done with a pole. I’m sorry if that’s cheating, but for us self-taught broke people… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif Just make sure that you’re doing the exercises with the proper form for them to be effective.
I would prefer that people don’t go to my lessons and try to guess at how to perform the moves by the title name. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif That’s not safe at all! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumbdown.gif There is a reason they are not just pictures with names, but actual video. I make sure to explain the moves so you are aware of proper technique and form.

I have to jump in and say I’m not surprised at all!! Our members here are WONDERFUL and SUPPORTIVE of each other, always have been, no doubt, always will.
I have no problem with having repeat post https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumleft.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif That’s how you know your always getting new people https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif I don’t find it annoying at all, new people are welcome to ask what ever their little hearts need to know. I find it very arrogant when I’m on a forum, and a poster happens to post something that has already been addressed, and all the regulars get testy and tell the poor person "that’s already been asked". https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif My regulars are FANTASTIC about helping out anyone who posts even if its a repeat, they give advice and let them know of other threads that might be of more help without being condescending. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif Thanks guys https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Here is something that can be helpful when trying the crucifix….Work on it from the ground, by that I mean an elbow or handstand. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif Elbowstand would be the safest. So you would get on to the pole NOT from an invert but by facing away from your pole, and placing hands on the floor in front of you. Then place one leg behind you on the pole as far up as your flexibility will allow. Press that leg against the pole for leverage and bring the other one up to the other side of the pole. Griping the pole with your legs, walk your hands back (or scoot your elbows back) towards the pole, you can then slide your legs up higher on to the pole and you can focus of finding the proper places for you legs to grip the pole without having to leave the ground. You can rest the front of your torso against the pole while you get the feel of the position with your legs. If you feel your gripping well with your legs move one arm at a time off the floor. Don’t forget to use some mats or a spotter. There you are….in the crucifix.
Here is where you’ll want contact with the pole:
above the knees/the pole will run along the upper thigh too but you want to squeeze above the knees.along the back of the calf
the back of the anklealong the front of the shin
the front/top of the footsqueeze….. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

YES joist are necessary!!!!!!!!! You could wreck your ceiling, You need a joist for any pole, even those you don’t remove! One girl used a magnet to find the stud/joist. I have tapped with the little rod tools you get with the pole, when I had popcorn ceilings. There is more info on setting up your pole and finding joist under THINKS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU INSTALL UP YOUR POLE.

i’m using a lilmynx but moving to a higher place with a higher ceiling… thinking about getting an xpole but don’t like that its top mount.. the kendra pole is essentially an static only 45mm xpole with a bottom mount..
http://www.xpoleus.com/shop_poles.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
has anyone even seen or tried one?I have been informed that yes it is an X pole….BUT its only I tiny bit cheaper than what we sell the pole for and you don’t get the spin option so……I would go with the X pole not the Kendra, I think having spin mode is worth it. We have the best prices around!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
