AdministratorAugust 12, 2009 at 3:20 am in reply to: Yay Inverted Crucifix and Scorpio, Boo Gemini!Good job on the crucifix and scorpio!! The hand getting in the way is a common problem, so don’t worry its not just you. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif It is more than likely a matter of strength. You need to be sure that your inverting is really solid, you need to have enough control to LIFT your butt/hips higher so you will clear the hand. So be sure your, A. not using a big kick of momentum to invert, and B. giving an extra PULL up, with your upper back and biceps. The stronger you become the easier it will be to clear the hand. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Do you have the pole too tight, if its over tightened ( I have done this before) it will not move as freely as it should. I have had friends say my X pole spins much faster than their PS poles. I would double check to make sure its not overly tight https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I can’t stand when forums get all snooty https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif I’m sorry they acted that way! Trust me, I know how it feels to be treated poorly on a forum! I’ll leave it at that https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_silent.gif (not here of course) https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif I don’t blame you for being upset at all, its stupid and petty so vent away!
Its funny that you brought up belly dancing, I was just working on some pole work with belly dance mixed in, I literally just finished dance and saw this post! I will mix belly and pole dance hahaha, and I really don’t care who likes it or not! Oh AND I was not dancing to traditional belly dance music, I love to dance to trance. I wish I knew more about belly dance so I could help you out ABC, but I really don’t know anything, I just started doing it again for fun https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif.
I think there may be some belly dancers on the site, so hopefully they will speak up and you can maybe learn from them here!!

Yep, my hands hurt….fingers and palm/thumb area. Only when I’m getting back on the pole, give it a little time, it will get better. Hands have muscle just like the rest of your body. They are getting stronger, just like the rest of you. Soon you can say "I’ll open that jar for you" because you’ll have SUPER GRIP https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_spiderman.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_batman.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rambo.gif

AdministratorAugust 10, 2009 at 3:33 am in reply to: Should the pole be centered on one joist or in between 2?I see your in the US, then you want to place the pole centered on ONE stud/joist. The X poles were created and built in the UK and over there, the joists are closer together than here in the US. When using an X pole in the US center it on only one not in between two. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
