Usually, the day after a long practice my arm, chest, abdominal and leg muscles are sore. I had a long practice yesterday and today my hands hurt. The joints of my fingers, the muscles and even the skin on my palms. I couldn’t even do a fireman this morning because it hurt to hold on. Does anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?

I’ve never had sore hands. I do have sore palms from calluses and sore wrists sometimes. If you had a long practice yesterday maybe rest it today and see how you feel tommorrow?

I’ve heard epsom salt soaks are very helpful for sore muscles. I haven’t tried it myself, but I plan to now that I am doing aerial tissu. My hands/forearms cramp up from gripping the fabric, and my lats are always sore the next day. When I first started pole dancing, I had similar problems, but my muscles got used to it within a couple months and now I am rarely sore the next day.

Yep, my hands hurt….fingers and palm/thumb area. Only when I’m getting back on the pole, give it a little time, it will get better. Hands have muscle just like the rest of your body. They are getting stronger, just like the rest of you. Yes my hands are killing me but I think its because I grip to hard and the studio I’ve been going to has brass poles. My pole doesn’t seem to hurt my hands as much.

Ya I just got my new pole, and I’ve been practicing on it for 2 days, and I have open sores all over my fingers (particularly my pinkies). I have super-sweaty hands so I wipe down the pole and my hands all the time with alcohol, so maybe this is what is causing it. I feel like I’m getting my calloused gymnastics hands back!
