Just remember the key is move slooooowly don’t try to just pop the legs up. Balance requires constant slight adjustments. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

If your planning on getting the lessons here I talk about the correct positions there. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
Basic invert
outside leg comes to the SAME side of the pole your body is on
inside leg come to the OTHER side away from your body.
Your POINT OF CONTACT…with the pole will be… the heel, back of the calf, of the outside leg… in between the knees and thighs of both legs, and top of foot with the pole crossing over the shin of your inside leg.
Concentrate on holding that pole in between and just barley above the insides of your knees. Working on your upright Crucifix can be helpful because it is that same leg position. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

The straight edge is more difficult because it takes more balance to hold that line. If your comfortable with your straight edge V aka aysha then try this.
Caterpillar up, stay in that tucked position….the farther out you are from the pole the harder this will be to hold. I like the forearm grip for this. DON’T ARCH YOUR BACK!!
From that tuck position try extending ONE leg straight up…slowly! Work on holding that….then try to bring the other leg up next to it. Once you have your balance that way then work on moving right from the tuck to releasing both leg up at the same time.
Make sure your solid in whatever grip your using, that way you can focus on your balance….breath…don’t hold your breath. lol
Try working on handstands against the wall or pole to improve your balance. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif

If your new to pole dance then backing off it a good idea. You can still do some floorwork and fun transitions and you can still have fun with it, just dance! Here is a good example of dancing with your pole without all the tricks.

Now if your not a beginner and your very comfy in your abilities, here are my guide lines, I used for my pregnancy.
With ANY exercise while preggers, be sure you don’t over heat, and don’t raise your heart level too high. Drink lots of water. Listen to your body.
1st Trimester…continue with moves you know but don’t work on new ones. Stick with what you have down and work on perfecting it.
2nd Trimester…No more inverts or climbs. Spins are fine if your joints don’t mind. if your a seasoned dancer it shouldn’t be a problem, but everyone is different.
3rd Trimester…This is a good time to work on dancing with soft hands, pointed toes (watch out for leg cramps tho) and hip rolls and enjoying your new sexy body. Most spins will be out..I was able to adjust mine, I found that by keeping my thighs pointing down, and not bringing them up to my waist for spins like the chair I could still do them and they were not a stain on my Abs. Here is an example of that…you can see I don’t do many spins at all and I keep my knees low.

With ANY exercise you have to talk with your DR first and make sure your fit to exercise while pregnant. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_puke_r.gif LOL

AdministratorNovember 19, 2009 at 6:38 pm in reply to: How does everyone stay in shape for poling?Pole dance alone will increase you strength and stamina thats for sure https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rambo.gif ….but if you find yourself hitting a plateau (your stuck in a rut) then heading into the weight room is a great way to get to the next level. Also I always recommend that anyone who has been sedentary (hasn’t been exercising) start off with the strength training lessons before moving on to the beginner pole moves, they can help prepare your body and prevent injury’s.
To stay in shape now I, pole dance about 2 times a week, stretch, almost every day, hoop, sometimes as a warm up for pole. and do yoga once a week…I am going to try and take time to do this more. When I first began to pole I had been weight training for years, then it tapered off as my love for pole took over. I still enjoy weight training but find that if I have a chance to get a workout in I choose pole!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

You’ll be just fine with your Kendra pole! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif Plus your pole is the smaller 45mm and I love using my 45mm for static spins, the smaller size is great for that.

You could just go with using your friends garage…maybe to save on cost she could help you pay for the pole too if she plans on using it. You would have money left over to buy heels and boots! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif Then you could get an X pole so if you ever do move, you don’t have to buy a new pole….also are there any rooms in your home that don’t have the vaulted ceiling? Maybe its worth moving some rooms around? We turned our huge master bedroom into my pole room and now we sleep in a small room in the house, but its worked out really well! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif
