Oh, that's looking pretty good there Shellecta. For most it's really an issue of needing more flexibility. It's difficult and nearly impossible to get into the proper positioning for moves like the Jade, Allegra and Chopsticks without flexibility. Being able to open up the hips is really important for the Allegra, this will allow you to release the top leg while keeping the pole at the back. Working on Scorpio and practicing droping the hip to add spin like I do, will help with this move.

@ Vintervid, you don't have to agree with me…..I think that it's important to explore all methods of stretching! I would never suggests there is only ONE way, I don't think there is only one way to do anything! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif However, I stand by my word when I say never do your flexibility training (this is different than stretching) cold. We are not discussing children stretching, we're talking about women who are in their 30's, who may have never had previous stretching experience. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
That is really good progress Shellecta! You should be proud!!!
DedeJoy..yay about your Jade!

I should have been more specific….. Never do your flexibility training with cold muscles… This can slow progress, you could even become less flexible then you were and increase injury. I explain in my lessons that stretching is different than flexibility training…. Sorry for being too general!

YES!!! Anyone at any age can increase their flexibility! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gifAs far as becoming flexy fast….this will very from person to person. Another thing to consider, make sure to work on your flexibility as a whole, not just work towards the splits. I think you mentioned on another thread, that you'll be getting the lessons here, so when you do, check out this lesson. https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view/4dd66731-eab0-4b4a-aa13-41ad0ac37250 It will give tips and info on stretching and flexibility training.
Some helpful things you should know:
Never stretch a cold muscle…ever!
If you find your sore after stretching, then your probable stretching too far, this can slow progress
Start with stretching no more than 3 times a week. Less is sometimes more! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Moonflower, It was x pole U.S. that told me not to use brasso. Did you contact your x pole dealer and tell them what happened after you used the brass cleaner they suggested? I would think if someone gave you the wrong information on how to care for the pole then they would be happy to fix the situation for you….

Thanks moonflower, that's good to know. I still can't wait to for my brass to get here! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
Oh, for everyone else…..one thing I do know…. you should NOT use Brasso on the brass x pole. It's too abrasive and it has an oil in it that doesn't clean off, then the grip of the brass will be gone. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif

Moonflower, how much pole time did you give your brass pole before you decided you didn't like it?

The Shoulder and Iguana mount are far more advanced than spins!! So it's ok that your not getting it the first try. I would suggested working on the Shoulder Mount from the floor first. I would also suggest working on the Iguana or what I call Pencil from off the pole first, before trying to mount into the position.
Everyone will progress differently. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gifThere are pole dancers who never invert and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I think we worry too much about trying to learn every single move there is, as a result, we loose focus on perfecting what we already know. I would love to see more of a focus on using the moves we have already achieved to express ourselves and to push ourselves to perfect those. A pole sit can beautiful when done with control and grace. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif
Working on building strength and cross training by adding something that can improve balance, like yoga is so helpful. It's very easy to feel like your falling behind everyone else or getting stuck. But taking time to work on finishing movements or focusing on basic's is a great way become "unstuck" lol https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
