I was just speaking my mind too. I was not addressing anyone on this thread, only Olle in the beginning. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

AdministratorMay 29, 2012 at 5:07 pm in reply to: HAVE YOU SEEN THIS 8 YEAR OLD POLE PERFORMER???I understand that Ollie, I know it's hard not to feel jealous, but think of this……Pushing yourself, so hard can often result in injury and pain later in life!! As I said before, some people live for training and love it, that's great, if it makes them happy.
But, as people who love pole dance, we should also be sure to send a message that there is no need to do moves or push to a point where you may suffer for it later on in life! Nothing wrong with moderation and enjoying your pole journey. I think many pole dancers feel that if they are not doing "xyz" then they are not truly a pole dancer, but to me that's just not the case!!! I would love to see more of us be happy with where we are in our own journey, myself included…..
She did a terrific job, and I think she would feel awful to hear the "big" girls where talking about her performance being inappropriate, I would hope instead she could see how supportive we can be…… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

If this little girl is HAPPY pole dancing at this level then great. There are people who love to train and perform at a high level, regardless of chance of injury later in life. It's up to her and her parents/guardians to decide how hard to push.
As a parent, I would love to see my kids enjoy a sport or dance…but I would not encourage them to spend their childhood training.

We were just seeing if people would like this better, or even notice. Looks like you did!https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif I personally like seeing the ages and think it's encouraging to see how diverse we all are!!! I'm proud to be almost 35!https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_queen.gif

Unfortunately, attending a class once a week is not enough to build up strength. Don't be discouraged though. the girls had some great advice. Like they said, there are always things you can do at home, even if you don't have a pole.https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif If you are interested there are strength and conditioning lessons here on the site. You do not need a pole for these, they can be done with a wall or door way! Working on strength 3 times a week leaving a rest day in between workouts is a great start to building up strength! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

The foam roller is great for relaxing the muscles! You can use it before you dance or stretch, you can also use it if you're sore from a previous workout. I have a lesson section just for the roller! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

I don’t think anyone is talking about headstands….. 🙂 But anyway, headstands can be done safely if your experienced. I feel starting with the elbowstand is best though, I never really use the headstand for anything.

That’s awsome pdr!! That’s why we still have a chat room, to get together!! Its a great way to make new friends here.

If you feel lots of pressure on your head, check to make sure you’re engaging the shoulders properly. If you are taking the lessons I cover this. It can take time to learn but it’s worth it.

You can always meet up with a veener in chat! 🙂

Yes you can. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gifIf you're taking the lessons you can see it used for stretching in the Splits routines.
