jacq- it sounds like we do have to thank Henry and asshole boss for this site, lol!
wow veena, i find it very interesting that there was not one, but TWO events that happened within a day of eachother, to prevent you from opening a studio!..and that then things proceeded in a way that allowed you to create this site (ex. your husband finding another great job). I don’t know if you would’ve been happier owning a live studio (sorry don’t know how else to call it), but creating this online pole community has helped, benefited, and brought together so many people from all over the world (many of whom also don’t have classes in their area/country), and that wouldn’t have been possible if the studio wasn’t online. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gifYes, Azriel I’m beyond thrilled about how Studio Veena has come along. I really truly love helping and teaching others I have always been that way. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I use to be a very negative person, and so every little thing that happen to me seemed horrible and over whelming. Fortunately I was able to stop the cycle of negativity and learned to find solutions to problems instead of wondering why me?? I still have my moments, but I really do believe positive thoughts = positive outcome. I don’t have any plans to open a studio anytime soon, I love being able to have my kids around me and be home!! The site is a lot more work then I thought it would be, and it has grown waaayyy faster then I ever thought, but I have grown as a teacher and business woman because of it. I love to see everyone talking about their new moves and its great to see others finding support here in more ways then just pole. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Well Studio Veena wouldn’t even exist if my husband and I hadn’t had two big life events occur!!!
I had found a great space to rent for my studio In a performing arts center! I had ordered all the poles…things were looking good! We had recently purchased our first home and we were settling in nicely. We even had a live in babysitter, my husbands brother had a room in the basement which gave him a place to live rent free and us freedom to go out at night!! Ok things were good.
Well my husbands parents had come to visit and I just wasn’t feeling right soooo I did some counting on my calendar and hmmmm I was late https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif So I took the pregnancy test. POSITIVE?? I really, really, didn’t believe it. I had finally convinced myself that I was not going to have anymore kids and was moving forward with my passion for pole dance. I cried…now what I thought. So the next day my husband calls me and well guess what…lost his job!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif I’m thinking this is it!! I’m just gonna curl up and die (I’m so optimistic) lol. Well being the wonderful provider my husband is he found a great new job with in a few weeks BUT it was in California we were living in Minneapolis. So he moved out there to start on the job and I stayed back to get the house ready for sale, and let my oldest finish out the school year. He miss the whole first part of the pregnancy. We are like two peas in a pod so being apart for over 3 months was awful.
I wanted to still teach… but how? I couldn’t commit to the studio anymore because we would be moving. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif well….WHAT IF I DID LESSONS ONLINE!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_idea.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_idea.gif My husband say’s yeah that’s a great idea BUT what if we take it a step farther….create a pole dance community!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_idea.gif and Studio Veena was born https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/bom.gif
Sometimes that terrible situation can turn into a wonderful opportunity. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif I’m thankful every day that I have my lil baby Henry, he’s amazing!!!

Veena, how many poles do you have??? How tall are they, what rooms are they in, how long have you had each one of them??? Are they all chrome??? And what are your favorite letters of the alphabet???
Give us some juice to work with and maybe we’ll suggest something you like. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
I have 5 one 45mm and four 50mm https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif but only because I had planned on having a physical studio, back in MN before I moved…not because I’m a crazy X pole lady. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif LOL I only use the 45mm and the 50 is the 12footer so I’m using part of another 50 as an extension. My 45 is really my fav because its the first X I used and its one of the poles I used in the lessons!
45 is in the living room
50 is in the bedroom heheI have had them all the same amount of time but have used the 45 the longest.
All chrome
I like the letters V, S, k

Here is my experience. In the order of least to most grippy Stainless steel, Chrome, Titanium Gold I have not tried brass or powder coated. I always here that brass is the best for grip. Keep in mind that with all poles the humidity level, pole temp, body temp, room temp, cleanliness of the pole, your skin type (dry oily) and size of pole all factor into the grip. Stainless steel is very hard to use in a cold dry climate, I like to perform my spins in static mode so Titanium Gold isn’t a good fit, if I ever get use to spin mode https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_puke_l.gif I may have to get a TG someday. I love the chrome the most…not too sticky not too slippery, its a good pole from beginner to advanced! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Yeah right Veena!!! Picture a Goddess like you ever being shy!!!!! I don’t believe it!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif
Haha..Oh Jungle I was really shy and worried constantly what everyone was thinking about me, I was one nervous nilly https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_pale.gif I hated being shy, I missed out on a lot of things because of it, but NO MORE https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif life’s too short for shy. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif -
Are we talkin about the popcorn looking stuff….if so I have used my X on that type of ceiling before with no trouble, a few small pieces flaked off when I scraped the dome against the ceiling while taking it down once… but it wasn’t noticeable. Just be careful not to get any little pieces in your eyes. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cyclops_ani.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif
-
Yes like Lola said..A full arms length while holding the pole is the best, I prefer even more space…I love to really extend my spins!! You can get by with less space, but you will need to be careful not to hit your feet an on anything while performing spins. Spins in static mode require the most space. Just be careful and understand your static spins might suffer a bit because of the smaller space. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

I’m trying guys, but I just can’t think of anything good yet. I don’t even know if my pole is male or female…..this is why we stopped having children cuz we ran out of names https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif Maybe I should name one of my poles after the one and only girl name we liked?? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_smurfin.gif but then what do I name the other? ahhh I don’t know https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif

Hmmm not sure why that would be. Let us know what they say about it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif

Welcome https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif I use to be so painfully shy that I couldn’t go up to a fast food counter to order food!! Pole dance was part of my transformation out of my shell. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif What the others are saying is true I don’t allow rude comments to be posted to the videos on this site. Everyone one here is super supportive anyway so I doubt that would ever be a problem. So if you ever get brave enough please share with us. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

So cool! Thank you Rouge https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif We’ll off to watch dancing with the stars!!!!
-
Yes no no no jumping!! Not even in the beginning. Focus on LIFTING your hips above your head, don’t kick your leg with force….it might LOOK like we are kicking into an invert because dancers tend to keep at least one leg straight on the way up, it looks pretty…it shouldn’t be used to help you get up. The proper safe and effective strength builder is no kicking and no jumping. The invert should really focus on the abs, biceps and upper back. Think of drawing your legs up not using force. Everyone is always in a rush to invert so they can learn all those cool moves, but if you don’t have the proper forum and strength you are far more likely to injure yourself and not be able to pole at all https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif

Nice to have you here with us! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

LOL how fun! I wonder if I could find a dance club with a pole around my area? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif

I just opened my new x-pole and see that it does’nt screw into the ceiling like my old pole. has anyone had a problem with it slipping?
The X pole doesn’t screw into the ceiling!! That’s what makes it so great…you can put it where ever you want. Just be sure to read the instructions for putting up the pole….one thing they don’t mention, in the US our joist are farther apart then the UK where X pole was created. You will want to place the pole on center of ONE joist not spanning TWO. for more X pole tips please read this thread…find it under the topic dance poles
THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU INSTALL YOUR X POLE -
Welcome…don’t be shy, https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif feel free to ask any questions we’re all happy to help!

Well where to begin? Hmmmm I have been to strip clubs many times! I still go, I usually end up having some fun conversations with the girls. The only reason I agreed to go the first time was because I was really interested in the pole work. This was before I had even tried a pole. I was fascinated by it, I don’t know why but… That’s how I learned to move. I have always gone with my husband and it was fun because we felt like we were doing something naughty… but together…hehe.
So here is my thoughts on this. All men, https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bigsmurf.gif happily married or not like to look at naked or scantily clad women, https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_smurfin.gif that’s just the way their simple pea sized brains work. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif So if you go…. yes he will drool over all the girls in the club BUT that doesn’t me he thinks they are more attractive than you or will love you less. My husband and I became closer after our experiences, because it helped start up some interesting and honest conversations. I also realized he wasn’t feeding me a line when he said he preferred small boobies (I call mine "hootlits" not hooters.) We have been happily married for 13yrs! Honest communication is the key.
Now if you do decide to go…do your research, we went to a full nude club the first time https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif I didn’t realize it double https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif . until I looked at the girl on stage. I was super uncomfortable but to my surprise the girls were really nice. In my experience women guest are treated really well in the clubs. I have gotten a private dance and the girl and I end up talking about clothes and hair silly things, and your man has no clue and thinks its super hot, because all he see’s is two girls! If you tell the dancer your not really comfortable she’ll be nice. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
Just make sure that there’s an understanding between you and your husband….if your uncomfortable and want to leave he doesn’t get upset or make you feel bad. If you say enough, then it’s done!! If he’s not willing to give you that kind of control over the situation then don’t go! Talk about it before during and after…don’t pester him but just remember this is how most men think…"I wanna beer an I wanna see somthin necked" https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif You can learn a lot from the girls in the club, the girls who do the best TEND to be the ones that are the most confident, regardless of their shape or size. Learn to work it girl. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif -

Please don’t rush back into poling…the shoulders can be easily injured in pole dance, without proper form and strength. Your Physical therapist might not have any idea what pole dance is so you may have to show them how you would hold your arms up for different move and explain as best as you can they types of moves you do. Spins are very hard on the shoulders, climbs and most inverts too. I’m not sure how advanced you are? I’m sure you dieing to get back on the pole but take it slow… I would work on transitions, floor work and flexibility. One you get the go ahead from your PT or DR then you can work on this strength training exercise.

X-pole also make a 42mm, if you need something smaller, Veena can confirm if you can get that in the US.The 42mm is not available in the US. X pole US sells Chrome and Titanium Gold, 45mm and 50mm that’s it for us over here. When I spoke with Stacey at the trade show over here it sounded like you guys have the biggest selection for X pole finishes and sizes…lucky https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

As the queen of skin irritations, stop using the windex. In fact never, ever use it on the pole.
We use meths, which is sprayed onto a cloth, then thoroughly wiped off.
The last major issue I had was using a pole that was cleaned with "spray and wipe". My hands were swollen within 8 hours and were painful, burning, itchy and hot. Cold water made them even worse! I woke up scratching my hands until they were bleeding. I ended up taking anti-histamines, but I really had to ride it out. Nearly 4 weeks later, I’m at the tail end. Meths is the only thing that doesn’t react with my skin – and most cleaning products do.Wow thanks for passing on that knowledge https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumleft.gif I don’t know what Meths is? Over in the US if you tell someone your using meth its a whole different story…its an illegal drug LOL https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif -
I do wanna name my poles but… I had a hard enough time naming my children https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif LOL. I love the idea. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif If I can come up with enough names and can’t decide, I’ll have you all vote to help me out.
-
Oh my, https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif that doesn’t sound good. I’ve never had a problem BUT is sure seems like the windex might be whats causing irritation. I would stop using that and try something else for a while. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Lily, the titanium is the Gold! Thats why you’ll here people call it the (TG titanium gold) and you can get it in the "skinny" 45mm! My first pole was a PS pole and I didn’t care for it but I know some people do like them. I had the permanent kind but I didn’t care for the stainless steel finish. The x pole is a great value for the home poler. I’m the only one that I’m aware of offering free shipping in the US and we sell our poles at a very reasonable price. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
