If your taking the lessons this one should help…. http://ver3.studioveena.com/lessons/view/2286
Have you worked on the position from the ground first?? There is no need to invert in order to get the feel and proper points of contact for the move. You would reverse handstand, walk your hands back towards the pole if needed and then your free to work on the leg positioning without the fear of falling.
When your ready to try it from an invert you have to make sure that your invert is strong and your getting your hips up high, if your knees are at your hands your not inverting high enough. Remember your points of contact. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

"-Set a goal…..Keep it attainable and specific. Don’t say "I wanna dance like Felix some day" https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif "

I am one of those who falls in and out of love too! Happens with everything I ever do Knitting, Horse back riding, Figure Skating, Drawing, playing Musical Instruments, Rollerblading the list goes on…..So far not pole. I feel your frustration and I am a bit worried myself. I can relate to you at the moment Runemist. Today was my first day back on the pole after 19 days of mourning my sis and recovering from sickness…..it was not a good practice….anyway, I just wanted to let your know, I’m sorry your feeling this way, it sucks and I understand! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_evil.gif
The down side of pole is that it does require strength in order to progress, but if your happy just dancing now and then, there is nothing wrong with that either. Just stick with the basics so as not to injure yourself. Not every pole dancer HAS to invert to have fun. Now on the other hand…if your goal is to become a Pro pole dancer, then you’ll have to stick with some type of training schedule.
Here are my tips for motivation.
-Set a goal…..Keep it attainable and specific. Don’t say "I wanna dance like Felix some day" https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
-Keep a log. (like others suggested)
-Hang a pole picture someplace where you’ll see it EVERYDAY and often.
-Give yourself a reward for sticking to your goal.
-Set up some pole time with a friend! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif The chat room is always open here for members to meet. If you have someone else who is counting on you to be there it can help you stick with it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif
Also, its OK to only LIKE pole, maybe if you give yourself some time you’ll end up falling in LOVE with pole dance again. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_safesex.gif

Hello and welcome. We have all shapes and sizes here and even a few male pole dancers! My favorite pole is the X pole and I sell them here on the site. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif The new x poles are also bottom loading, which means you don’t need to stand on a ladder to set it up. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

AdministratorMarch 29, 2010 at 9:24 pm in reply to: Things to Know BEFORE you install your Pole.Hmmm, that’s interesting….come to think of it Pink… I have a Titanium Gold X pole and with that pole I have never had trouble with stuck tubes…but, all of my chrome x poles have been difficult to get apart at one point or another. The only way I can keep them from getting stuck its to make sure I hand tighten the pieces when I set up the pole. Then for maintenance I loosen them then re-tighten once a week while the pole is still up. It seems to help prevent them from getting stuck. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I have not made that lessons yet…but I will https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif It is not painful for me either. The two best ways I have found to keep the pain away is speed and when going slow, you must have proper placement on the trap. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

AdministratorMarch 29, 2010 at 2:27 pm in reply to: Leg contortion – Back splits, stag, twisted ballerina…My extension for the ballerina comes from my hip flexor, flexibility. I struggle with the scorpio variation shown above because I don’t have enough low back flexon. You don’t need as much "archablitiy" lol in your back for the ballerina. There are different ways to pull/hold your leg behind you too…..off to the side a bit or directly behind you, which is much harder!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_albino.gif

Thanks for posting this….I just bought some GREAT shorts at my local lululemon store and I loooooove them. The lady asked my if I was a runner I said, "nope, a pole dancer…I’m always on the hunt for pole dancing short!" She looked at my 4 kids and was like "wow" https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif I also love the positive vibe they encourage on their packaging and such.
Their HOT YOGA SHORTS are great for pole….. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

I learned on a little blue 250 Kawasaki…made my husband buy it for me so I could take the test on a small bike. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif I don’t have that one anymore. My bike (which was my husbands first bike, I encouraged him to buy it cuz I secretly hope I would get to ride it one day). It’s an old one but rare! 1984 Kawasaki, KZ 700 (not a 750) which is a rare find. My husband and I are planing on fixing it up together. He rides a Yamaha, Road Star with the midnight package. I should take a pic, I don’t know why I don’t have one https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

Runemist…I yes it came very easily to me, (although at the time I had know idea my progress was fast) but I had the advantage of my strength training background. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rambo.gif I have no dance or gymnastics background, just my own messing around as a child moves. My sister helped me learn a cartwheel and I figured out a few other various gymnastics moves….never archived a back flip though https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif I have always had a weird understanding of how my body moves I guess.
Polegirlsonia….your vids were great! I remember them https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
drkfaery….you HAVE improved, your flow is better now and all of the moves you do are stronger. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

I was asked to speak at the convention https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif ….. but turned it down https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif With the kids and no one to watch them I just don’t see it working out. Chris has already miss a lot of work due to planned and unexpected trips. I’m hoping that I’ll get to go, but I’m sure it will be last minute. If only my mom would take up my constant offers to fly her out here to be with her grandkids!!!! I miss out on everything. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_evil.gif Oh well my kids wont be little forever I guess……..

I personally can’t make that call for you but…….( I can’t remember how long ago this started either ) If its not painful, then go at it any of the exercise slowly, you don’t want to be doing any of the exercises everyday anyway to start with. Every other day is best and if you have pain when performing any of them then stop. If you can’t get at least 8-10 reps then you need less resistance, if your going beyond 12-15 max then you need more resistance. I don’t like going over 15 reps because it can lead to overuse…unless you were directed by your dr to do so. Stay away from spins for now, everyone underestimates how hard spins are on your shoulders! Listen to your body!!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Fleur, I’m guessing yours are the same exercises I’m planing on doing. I haven’t your yet tho. I haven’t done mine yet either, but I would think they are the same basic exercises. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif
