Interested in others view!!I teach inverts as a two part process, first the upper body placement then add a step and sweep of the leg. Honestly using zero momentum is very hard on the upper body and most students can’t do this with out feeling too much strain on the upper back. Kicking in not good because of the force that’s behind it and usually the upper body placement is not correct when kicking is involved because the goal is, just get up there!
I feel slight momentum using a step and sweep of the outside leg should be taught first along with a strong understanding of a Side Pole Hold. If you’re side pole hold is solid it will save you from banging into the pole and jerking when lifting and sweeping the leg.
Dead lifting is HARD and those new to inverts should not be expected to invert that way.

Sieira, the exercises shown in this video are very important, and can help prevent pain and injury. Also, I cover how to use a Side Pole Hold to invert properly preventing strain on your back.

We have so many there isn’t one place to find them all, but if you type in the month and a year with the term ‘challenge’ you should be able to see them all. Here’s what I found when I typed in May 2011 Challenge https://www.studioveena.com/searches/index?s=May+2011+challenge

Don’t buy a finish because you want to perform or get use to poor grip! When you perform or compete if your smart, you’ll use a grip aid that will allow you to stick to the poles they use. Buy a home pole you are comfortable using!!!!!!

If you have skin on the dry side the grippiest finish is best. Avoid chrome, SS may work for you if it’s well broken in. TG, and powder coated would be a good option. I have normal to dry skin and my brass is great IF I can keep my body temp high so I’m almost sweaty, otherwise I need to use grip aids to stick with my legs on brass.

There are people where it comes from the knee, but that’s not the desired method of course.

Yes, turn out is suppose to come from the hip, not the knee or ankle. 🙂
