Yay that is an amazing feeling, go you!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif I really think that taking breaks can be a good thing! And yes the thigh rest is one of the last beginner moves https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif…not because its easy, but because its a strength builder which I feel is important before moving on to learning spins. So happy for you!!

The girls have some great advice! Also stay clear of spins that require you to lift both feet off the ground when your first starting out. Keep up the work with strengthening your upper body, you've got the right idea!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

@ chem….Oooooooh duh. I know what you mean now!! lol Sickling is a dance term where the foot is Supanated as in rotated with the little toe moving down towards the floor and big to up to the ceiling. This was a motion that KILLED me to do when I hurt my foot and I can finally do it without pain now. Anyway I love it when the girls at the clubs do that with their heels on and so I added it in to go along with other close ups of things that are womanish (if that is a word) like puttin on lipstick and eyemake up. Kinda like look at my sexy heels! IDK lol
No the tennies came with the puple sparkle swoosh!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

AdministratorAugust 14, 2011 at 8:10 pm in reply to: Rockstar & Pretzel Spins.. are they really spinning??@ dustbunny…the roxy can be a pose on spin or a static pole spin but I think of it more as a super cool transition on a static pole.
@ Tarah…Thank you so much xoxo

Yay…..I'm so excited too! I hope I get to meet some more lovely polers! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gifhttps://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

Chem, what did you mean by ankle rotations? Was I sickling my feet you mean?
-
Awwww thanks Chem! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif I do have other sexy vids from my earlier pole days but I only posted them here for the most part (unless they were a SV challenge) until recently. They were not nearly as polished though. "lick" is one that some of the first Veeners might remember.
I use to worry about what other dancers would think and didn't want my videos to be flagged or pulled off YT. But I am reaching the point where I no longer care what anyone thinks and its been great, not easy, but great!! !
I honestly feel sexier with short hair (I hate having hair in my face) https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif but I want a change so I'm trying to grow it out and in doing so I'm trying to learn to "work with it" when poling. My hair grew long when I was pregnant and I danced only a few times with it long and then chop it off, it was in the way. LOL Sooooo I'm hoping I can hold out and grow it long again. But maybe I'm like Samson and instead of strength from long hair I get sexiness LOL https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
Thank you, branquinha, JeHanne and Sarahrel too!!! I hope everyone shares this one with theirs female friends because I really do want women to take time to find their sensual side! As I have continued on my pole journey I realize more and more how important the "sexy" side of pole really is. It can be just as beneficial as the sporty/fitness side…its good for the soul https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Hi welcome!!! The ladies have some great suggestions. I wanted to add that if your looking to learn at home I have the lessons here all organized in the order in which you should work on them. I start you off with strength building moves first. There are also conditioning, flexibility lessons and routines. Each section has a "getting started" lessons that explains how often you should perform the exercises and gives you other great tips. If you have questions on a lesson you can leave a comment right on that lessons and I'll get back to you with help. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
As for shoes I always suggest working with bare feet first, then move on to doing things on the ball of the foot, then heels. Here is a sample of a lesson

This is a move that will take time to find the right positioning for your body….getting flat is the hardest part, keep playing around with the different entries…I find the entry where you tuck the overhead knee to the chest first the best for getting a nice flat secure jade. I would post a vid so everyone can see what your doing. Could be a simple placement issue. Can you do a half jade with the top knee tucked into the chest?

AdministratorAugust 13, 2011 at 8:49 am in reply to: Rockstar & Pretzel Spins.. are they really spinning??You can do both on either spin or static. The entry however will be different!!!! You have to use momentum and timing to do ANY kind of spin on a static pole….spins on a spinny pole are just holds https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
I just posted a vid with the rockstar in it on STATIC you can even see it from 2 angles if your interested its around min 1:15 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=php2HBPff8Q&feature=channel_video_title
