Oh I thought you said you were taking them…I have this combo in the lessons, so that is why I was asking. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif If your having trouble inverting then you might need to build up a bit more strength to do App to Bfly aka (split grip invert)
-
Have you tried the lesson for the split grip invert?

The first thing to check is…have you warmed up properly? Very few poles will be grippy if you have not properly warmed your body and the pole. This is very important for injury prevention as well. Cold pole, and cold body = no grip. I have a warm up in the lessons designed for warming your body and pole if your interested.
If you have sweaty hands try "dry hands" or gloves. Itac can be nice for Points of Contact, but will get greasy for many polers if you put it on hands. If you can dance without grip aids it's nice, because you don't goop up the pole. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Hello and welcome! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif Can I ask why you are trying to spin while climbing? Are you trying to do the Standing Fireman??
It's common to have points of contact become bruised and tender when first learning. Make sure you are not poling everyday, this will rest your muscles and your bumps and bruises.
Check out this blog for some great info on how to care for bruises, bumps and rips. https://www.studioveena.com/blogs/view/5004aa20-a2ec-45d6-bf5a-490b0ac37250

I don't know if there is a video tutorial on glittering heels, but you might find some help on my FB page. DIY heels! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gifhttp://www.facebook.com/groups/199885793358480/ I did made a video on how to cover your heels, but not with glitter though. Let me know if you would like the link for that……They look like this: https://www.studioveena.com/photos/view_photo/4e42f8bb-e23c-49ee-b711-6fa10ac37250

Yes, I have!! Don't worry too much. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif I had 2, and 2 1/2ishs fingers separation with my first 2 babies, then almost 4 fingers with my 3rd baby, (he was a big boy!) I didn't know about pole at that time, so it was not pole related. I had a good 3 fingers separation with my last. Sometimes it does happened because of what we've done, but often it just happens! Don't stress. Your abs are not ruined forever.
There are exercises you can do after the baby comes to "close the gap"!!!! It's work for me, and my abs are FINE! xoxo

Yep Chem, unless your using a forearm grip. This is how I personally like to see these moves executed. ……In forearm grip V legs, the body still is beside the pole….only with elbow grip should you face the pole and with Split grip when moving into it from off the pole.
From Cartwheel, you'll be beside the pole in split grip, this should be the goal anyway, You can do it from off the pole and hold to the side, it's just harder!! It's not unusual to be able to cartwheel into this and not do it from off the pole.

I think dancing in releve "balls of the feet" is something I think we all should work on. It creates a much pretty line when walking around the pole, if your not wearing heels. It's also good practice for your inverts, if you're up on the toes you can't kick! You shouldn't need the heel for hardly any pole work. I've danced with an injured foot before. If you cut the foot I would be careful though, because the increased bloodflow could cause it to bleed. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

I thinks it’s a great question!
For me, Freestyle means “without a plan”. I don’t have any particular moves in mind and I let the music carry me away. This is my favorite way to dance, I feel, well, “free” and happy! This may not be everyone’s definition for freestyle though!
Loosely choreographed would be having particular combos, spins and moves in mind. the “in between” is not planned, nor is the order. This is what I have done for any of my videos where I don’t say freestyle.

Next time you try, feel free to upload a video here if you like as well. Then we can all offer some suggestions. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

The switch and the torso twist in the conditioning section are great for this! Also you may need the kick due to lack of hamstring flexiblity.
-
I wont teach the twisted grip variations on these moves, (at least not from a handspring) so all of the info that I'll give you is not for the TG. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
If you take a look at the lessons you can see the progression for this move. https://www.studioveena.com/lessons (I have the lessons in order) Caterpillar, Elbow or forearm straight edge V "Aysha", then elbow or forearm straight edge, then the split grip straight edge V "Ayesha" last is the split grip straight edge. This is the suggested progression that works for most people but everyone is different.
I would try working on elbowstands and handstands agaist a wall and focus on really engaging the core. Don't let your back arch. Also, if you haven't been already, start working on your caterpillar to straight edge v, before moving on to any of the other straight edge variations. I have tons of tips for these moves if your taking the lessons. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

This is a tricky one, there are a lot of things it could be. Can you do the V leg variation of the straight edge, with any of the grips? Like this? https://www.studioveena.com/galleries/view/4f88eb00-6f9c-4764-a7be-294b0ac37250

Aww don't feel bad, the first day back is usually rough! Also, I still start with a some strength and conditioning before I jump into advanced stuff, when I've been off the pole, for some time. You'll get it back! If grip is still an issue with the humidity try working on floorwork, or just dancing and improving movement around the pole.
Lyme there are a lot of things I can't do right now, but I know they will come back.
It's nice to vent though https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

All you need to do is get some water in a spray bottle, spray the area that is smashed down and fluff it up with a comb https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif It may take a few times to fluff it back up, but it's always worked well for me.

I say, yes! I think if its a hair style you love then you'll make it sexy! I personally think dreads on a pole dancer would be hot. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cool.gif Your friends hair looks sweet btw

AdministratorJuly 26, 2012 at 3:20 pm in reply to: Chrome vs. titanium vs. brass 50 vs 45 vs 40 vs 38…. wha?I have all of these finishes and sizes…From my experience, here is what you should consider.
If your a seasoned dancer (sounds like you are) and you're looking for better grip go with TG or Brass. Chrome is best for new dancers and those who love to do static spins.
BRASS: Do you sweat a lot when you dance or live in a warm climate, is your poel space warm? If yes, then go with the Brass finish. When I lived in the Midwest I couldn't grip the brass, here in Vegas it's been wonderful!!! Sweaty hands work better with the brass, then TG or chrome.
TITANIUM: Do you have troubles staying warm, or live in a cool/cold climate, is your pole space cool? Then go with Titanium, This finish has worked well for me in ALL climates!
I love my 40mm but I still love my 45mm poles too! I'm 5'8" ….The 40 is wonderful for creating new lines and extensions, but I prefer split grip work on the 45. There are benefits to all of the different diameter poles. I've tried 38's too and they don't feel much different than the 40. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
