Opps I meant to say invert OR shoulder mount!
-
A controlled invert with legs extended or without any momentum takes time. You'll get there, a small sweeping reach with the outside leg is fine. Its jerking the upper body with a hard swing or jump and kick that can be a problem. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

I think it's a great idea for next months Challenge. Joalex! I did a chair dance to #1 Crush.

If it's an xpole they are meant to be removed often if need. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

SadieNikole, Welcome back!! If you have been off the pole for a bit, I would suggest starting from the beginning of the lessons again (if you haven't). Conditioning and strength based moves are important as a beginner or if you've taken time off.
If you ever have a question as to what muscle groups to strengthen, for a particular move in the lessons, take a look at the descriptions. I have listed the major muscle groups use. Then you'll be able to either use the Pole strength, Conditioning or weights at a gym, to focus on those areas. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

1. Yes, you can leave your pole up, but you should check to see if you need to tighten or adjust it every time before you dance on it. Sometimes the longer you leave the pole up the harder it can be to take down, but if you don' t need to travel with it it's, not such a big deal.
2. For the lessons please watch all of the "Getting started" lessons first. These lessons tell you how to use the lessons and how to organize your workouts. All lessons are placed in the order in which you should do them. Read all descriptions for each lesson. If you have any more questions feel free to ask. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Depends on what you feel smooth is….If you mean it catches and stop then starts again, or makes clunking noise, then you could call xpole so they can trouble shoot with you. If you had over tightened it before it may not spin nicely again. If the pole doesn't spin as long as you think it should, it could just be a matter of technique.
-
If its a slight bow there's nothing to worry about. If it's brand new and really bowed then you need to contact whatever company you bought the pole from. Like everything we buy, there are bound to be duds in the bunch.
-
if your xpole is bowing, then you've more than likely over tightened it!! I have many xpoles and have not had any horrible bowing or warping on any of them. There was some slight warping on my TG when I had the pole extended to over 14ft ….and at that height, it's to be expected. The pole was and is still very much useable. It's up in my pole room now along with my 40 https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

I'm just seeing your question now pegasusaerialfitness….I'm sure pole diameter and leg length along with bone structure all determine how painful a Scorpio, and other moves are. I personally don't feel pain on the lower leg in Scorpio. I would think the "in between" position might hurt the most, meaning not quite a long but not quite short Scorpio. I REALLY bend the knee when I do a short Scorpio, almost as if to do a thigh hold.

I have seen this somewhere…..hmmmm, can't remember where, but yes, that is so cool!!!

I love heavy metal and rock, Octane is one of my top xm channels I listen to along with BPM!! I'm really liking Halestorm right now.
I use to play guitar and bass guitar.https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rambo.gif Webmaster and I had a little band back when we were first married. LOL Lately I have been thinking I'd like to start playing again, now that we have a home where we can keep them out!

I have the ceiling mount and love it! I would say too that the top was maybe not in all the way, it can take some jiggling to get the top all the way in. I know it's in place when I here a thud.
-
nyte rayn, its always a good idea to re-tighten and check your pole before every use. If your ceiling cracked, the pole was more than likely not put up along the joist properly or it was over tightened. The pole should still be find, but I would still check it out. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Hi! There's a lot more to inverting then just abdominal strength. Good technique and adequate conditioning is important. Inverting isn't something that should be done by a certain time period, but worked on slowly. If you have a pole to practice on at home, the lessons here include conditioning and strengthening exercises along with pole moves that help you progress towards inverts. All lessons are place in order so you don't have to try and guess what to work on next. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Hi journey2me, It will vary, from person to person. The more consistent you are with your workouts the faster you'll see progress. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Great advice everyone! @ rdgcleveland, you'll get there with time. As suggested, work on technique also try drinking plenty of water and try eatting some bananas to help prevent cramps.https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Our poles come directly from xpole. If you have issues with your pole you would simply contact xpole and they will help you out. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

This is an encouraging place, and we all love to see how a poler grows. The others are right, we are our worst critics! Please don't feel you need to only post perfection https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif
Take a look at some of my videos, you'll see quite a few of them are attempts at things, and they are not all perfect. In fact, there are very few of my videos I like!! lol We see every little flaw in ourselves, but others might just be inspired by you. Someone who is a beginner and posts a video will inspire other new dancers and so on.
Here's a funny vid of me hooping https://www.studioveena.com/videos/view/4f4e6991-dc00-42a7-b244-44c20ac37250It's all about sharing and growing here, not nit picking and mindless insults like youtube and facebook.
this is one where I'm just messing around with new things and trying handstands. https://www.studioveena.com/videos/view/4e8076f8-4790-4cc1-9f59-63b80ac37250
