I don’t think one is easier then another, I do think teaching a new move should be done on static with out heels, but there are studios that only teach on spin with heels. So it’s really a matter of what your use to. It can also depend on what your working on, spins like a front hook take are technically less difficult, then the static from walking front hook. However, I teach most spins as a static from standing (no walking into it until you become stronger) this is usually the easiest of all for someone to understand and hold. Working on spinning pole during inverts and climbs can be more challenging for sure. It’s really personally preference, if you start off on spinny you’ll find creating moment on a static pole challenging, if you start off on static you might become dizzy easily and have a hard time keeping the pole spinning.

Hi jlsampson! Often times people don’t realize how much force is generated during a static spin. We need to work on strengthening the muscles of the hand, wrist, forearm and shoulders before working on static spins 🙂
The girls have great advice! In your photo jlsampson your fully gripping the pole, this will stress the wrist.
I teach 2 options for lower hand placement.
1. Is the grip shown in the photo posted by Nina. This is the correct alignment for the bottom hand. However when using this grip for spins you don’t even need to grip the pole with all the fingers. Instead you can focus on using only the PALM of the hand to push away from the pole.Option 2 is a grip with the pole resting between the thumb and pointer finger, palm facing the floor.
This lesson demonstrates both options and includes close ups too! https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view/4f859429-2dbc-41f1-86e4-282a0ac37250

Pole is one of those things that takes dedication if you want to do inverts, by dedication I mean training several times a week. There are many beautiful moves you can do that don’t require inverting. For a pole dancer that just dances when they get a chance, it can be discouraging, but keep in mind why you do it! You love it! So inverts or not, pole can still be a wonderful form of expression, and workout! If you are looking for some fun combos that don’t require inverts take a look at the Routines section in the lessons. There are about 30 min routines and not one includes an invert! xoxoxox
