Pole is one of those things that takes dedication if you want to do inverts, by dedication I mean training several times a week. There are many beautiful moves you can do that don’t require inverting. For a pole dancer that just dances when they get a chance, it can be discouraging, but keep in mind why you do it! You love it! So inverts or not, pole can still be a wonderful form of expression, and workout! If you are looking for some fun combos that don’t require inverts take a look at the Routines section in the lessons. There are about 30 min routines and not one includes an invert! xoxoxox

Most of my pole wear is from Target! I’m not sure if they have curvy girl sizes (I would think so) but they are inexpensive and durable. I buy bikini tops and sports bra tops. Bottoms I can be harder to find there at Target….I wear Poleskivvies (but she not in business anymore) 🙁

Hi Alexis, welcome to the site!!!
1 Cleaning with steam is my favorite way, rubbing alcohol, windex can work too. If your pole is Powder coated (colored, not metal finish) then do not use rubbing alcohol.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdjeYnLLaBw2 Dry hands is good for sweaty hands. Mighty grip might work too.
Here’s a tip for dancing on your pole if the weather is cold and the room is cold.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgvvc2uvcFw3 Start with the 30 day take off program (spins are not beginner moves!!) if you have weak wrists then you need to work on strength before doing spins. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4KzMIIbZH0&list=PLyXWQXP3dueofybLatPPuLCbvfSPF2oSF&index=26

Hi welcome to the site! By inner core I’m guessing you mean the Transverse Abdominis, Multifidus and pelvis. You are correct that these groups are important and they can be a challenge to focus on for those who are strong. Doing exercise for these areas can prevent back pain and injury. In addition to training the inner core you’ll want to condition the smaller muscles and stabilizers of the limbs too! If you’re interested in video explanation of exercises that will focus on these areas, check out the conditioning section in the lessons here. I have lessons that cover all of these areas including the illusive Multifidus! I feel that training the Multifidi is important for protecting the back during back bending.
https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view_category/conditioning-exercisesIt’s really impressive to me that you’ve decided to focus on inner core! I think a lot of people skip exercises that use smaller muscle groups because they “feel” the exercises are too “easy” and because they don’t need to grunt and huff and puff through it, it must not be worth doing. 🙂 I can’t stress how important conditioning is for pole.
If you don’t already have the lessons here you can try them for 3 days free using this code GET3 FREE.
