Using the legs is an option for the pole hold when starting out. Remember, you’re not pulling up at all, you’re holding, in the pole hold position, not pulling up higher then where ever you started. It’s perfectly normal to slide down or need to use the legs until you become stronger.

Avoid things like one handed spins, until you’ve really build a good foundation again! This video is helpful in preventing shoulder injury.

MD, I just want to clarify, Xpoles are great poles, no one was saying they are bad poles. Some of us who had the old original chrome xpoles, have noticed the grip is not as it use to be. It’s not a horrible issue, just interesting. A dancer can learn to work with ANY pole, by doing a proper warm up, cleaning the pole, and using a grip aid if all else fails. I highly recommend the xpole Brass pole, it’s been great. You may find that you love the chrome finish!

Posts like this, make all of my efforts worth while!! My whole life I’ve been drawn towards teaching and helping others, it really is a passion. Thank you both for sharing! xoxoxox

I’m gonna hyjack this thread, because I’m excited to share my idea with the Veena family! I’ll be posting one strength training exercise once a day for 30 days on my Instagram account! Don’t fear, if you don’t have instagram I’ll also be sharing it through Twitter https://mobile.twitter.com/StudioVeena and of course our Studioveena.com Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/studioveenacom?ref=hl
You’ll need a fit ball, set of free weights and an iron gym.

It’s interesting you feel that way!! I feel the same way about the new (chrome) xpoles. My old chromes from 5-6 yrs ago are fine. In fact I didn’t mind using chrome back then. The new xpoles however, I can’t get it to not feel slick!

AdministratorJanuary 7, 2014 at 8:45 pm in reply to: BAD DAY-Powder Coat Issues and Lost TricksThe SV pole is smooth and glossy, but lil mynx has a special process for our pole. I would think that he can easily sand down the areas that need to be exposed. I don’t know if there is anything that can be done about the texture though. You could try the Mighty grip and mix I posted about, to see if that might help you grip?
I agree with what everyone said about the size, hand grip is easier, but you’ll find you need to make adjustments for legs. You’ll get use to it, hang in there!

I’m so happy you’re enjoying the 30 days! ðŸ˜

RICE! Rest, ice, compression, elevation, works well immediately after you realize you’ve injured yourself. However some studies now suggest that using heat is best. You can try using both and see which works for you. I personally prefer heat, as long as you don’t have swelling around the injury.

Palace, did you try the and Mighty grip combo for your slippery pole? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgvvc2uvcFw

AdministratorJanuary 5, 2014 at 12:58 pm in reply to: Working through depression, exhaustion while returning to pole. You are not alone 🙂 So many of us have gone through long periods of time away from the pole, because of depression, time or just life! There is never an ideal time to start anything so as you said getting back on it is step 1. 🙂 Try to take things one day at a time. If you have purchased the lessons you might find the 30 day take off is perfect for easing back into things. Each day we do new things and it’s not a large time commitment. You do your tasks and your done! It was created for busy people who can’t always be on their poles consistently. Take care of yourself and know you’re not alone! xoxox
