AdministratorJune 4, 2014 at 9:25 am in reply to: What is safe to do on the pole with Diastasis Recti? If it is abdominal separation from having a baby it can be improved with proper exercise!! I had a 4 finger separation and I’m down to 1 finger. I’m getting ready to go on the road and I’m on my phone but I can send you some great links for exercises. And yes, have your midwife or dr confirm is normal Diastasis Recti. You are correct about not doing sit ups or too much twisting ab work. It is best to avoid working only the Rectus Abdominis and to focus on the Transverse for a while. 💜

Yes, you would need to have a solid caterpillar climb. It’s about having the control of the upper body while in hold so you can safely position the legs. 🙂

Zoiiys, Brass Monkey from a CAR is one of the more difficult ways to move into Brass Monkey. I teach it as an advanced move.
lilredrobinhood, how are you entering into your Brass Monkey? I teach it from an elbow or forearm grip straight edge because it’s easier to ‘sink into’ the knee pit grip from there. Entering from a shoulder mount is a good option too if you are very secure in your SM. I really feel a strong caterpillar and elbow or forearm straight edge is needed to learn a secure Brass Monkey.

AdministratorMay 29, 2014 at 8:38 pm in reply to: reverse grip on spinning.. and a few more questions.Do you have the lessons here Quindra if so check out the Reverse Grab lesson. I cover both static and spinning pole. https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view/4fc4dc2f-1bd8-4026-9725-02690ac37250 You’ll find 6 related lessons below the main lesson that you can use to condition and stretch for this spin. Also keep in mind this is not an easy spin and it’s not for beginners.
The technique is a bit different between the 2, you don’t use the same body placement and you don’t focus on stepping the body far away from the pole as you would in a static reverse grab. 🙂
If you’re pole has become slick try steam cleaning it, if it’s slick from sweat try a product like Dirty Girl Poletice.

I have 2 LED hoops, they are a lot of fun, however the ones I have are challenging to work with because of the battery. It’s like hooping with a small weight on one side and it throws some hand hooping and off body hooping off balance. Also the hoops are slick and even though I sanded down the inside they still slip a lot on clothing and my hands if they’re cold.

Loving these photos guys! I’m hoping to find time to play outside soon!!

AdministratorMay 14, 2014 at 11:21 pm in reply to: Beginnner spin, does the dizziness get better?I have to work my way back on to spinny if I’ve stopped using it. Here are some tips I use.
-Stay with Upright moves for the first few sessions on spin so avoid inverting right away
-Change direction, switching the direction you spin can help equalize fluid in the ear
-Avoid heavy meals or over eating before spin (of course right! lol)
-Keep your spin sessions short and work up to longer times on the pole
-After coming down from spinning look directly at the pole, this will split your line of sight and can help stop the spinning. This video has tips for spin mode too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtinAzp17s0

It’s actually very good if you have access to different sizes, 😊

How flexible you are has nothing to do with leg length, however looks can be deceiving, because anyone can learn to create nice lines and this causes an illusion of flexibility when done right. 🙂

AdministratorMay 14, 2014 at 5:36 pm in reply to: Weight lifting and gym exercises to help with pole dancingAs long as your working both sides when you pole added strength training outside of pole work isn’t necessary if your poling for fun or fitness. If you are working towards very advanced level moves are feel you are stuck and no progressing then lifting or doing strength training off the pole can help.
Here is a video with 30 off the pole exercises that are great for pole! https://www.studioveena.com/messages
You can also find this video in the Veena’s Tips section of the lessons. 🙂

AdministratorMay 14, 2014 at 5:31 pm in reply to: To kick or not to kick! Interested in others view!!I teach inverts as a two part process, first the upper body placement then add a step and sweep of the leg. Honestly using zero momentum is very hard on the upper body and most students can’t do this with out feeling too much strain on the upper back. Kicking in not good because of the force that’s behind it and usually the upper body placement is not correct when kicking is involved because the goal is, just get up there!
I feel slight momentum using a step and sweep of the outside leg should be taught first along with a strong understanding of a Side Pole Hold. If you’re side pole hold is solid it will save you from banging into the pole and jerking when lifting and sweeping the leg.
Dead lifting is HARD and those new to inverts should not be expected to invert that way.
-
Sieira, the exercises shown in this video are very important, and can help prevent pain and injury. Also, I cover how to use a Side Pole Hold to invert properly preventing strain on your back.

We have so many there isn’t one place to find them all, but if you type in the month and a year with the term ‘challenge’ you should be able to see them all. Here’s what I found when I typed in May 2011 Challenge https://www.studioveena.com/searches/index?s=May+2011+challenge
