My other top tip: wine chilling sleeve. The kind you keep in freezer then wrap round a wine bottle to cool it fast.

This, plus alternately plunging into bucket of hot water has really helped after a heavy training week.

I am taking rest day today.
Had fab 1:1 today and got brass monkey from CAR and from shoulder mount!
Will do abs as usual but day 7 is upper body stuff and I’ve trained 5 days straight: I have to take 48 hours out to let my shoulders biceps and forearms recover. I will switch things about a bit, and do upper body stuff on Friday instead, lower bod and core plus stretching is all good.

My go to rule for getting lean is double the protein, halve the carbs and quadruple the veg. Cut the sodas, sugars and refined carbs completely. Drink water like crazy.

    Family friendly healthy meals:
Roast a chicken, shred it, roast peppers and onions and tomatoes, roughly blend them, mash an avocado with lemon and Greek yogurt and pinch of herbs, stuff fajitas with big green salad with the above.

Ground lamb or beef mince made into patties with an egg yolk and chopped dried apricots, half a cup cooked diced onion, pinch coriander and served with steamed green veg and roast sweet potatoes and yogurt mint dip.

Salmon or other fish fillets (you can buy frozen economy bags) spread with pesto and squeeze lemon, baked in foil, with roast garlic root veg and spinach salad.

Big Spanish omelette with shredded ham, bacon, leftover veg and grated cheese, big salad, spicy sweet potato wedges made by putting chopped up sweet potato in plastic bag with olive oil and teaspoon paprika and oregano, shaking them to coat then roasting on baking tray.

Chicken thighs baked with sherry, onions and tin of tomatoes with green beans in garlic butter.

Day 5 take off and abs done, fitted some of it into pole jam and did the rest when I got home. Let myself off the rows because went a bit crazy doing gemini handstands at the studio.

You know, pretty much every person I know who pushes her or himself to master pole does it for themselves alone. They might start off saying they’d like to please their significant other (or men generally( but the ones who love it, who stick with it, who make an effort with it and do it in their spare time do it because it pleases them, as Phoenix says. You’re not alone. You’re not weird.
    You’re a poler!
    🙂

P.s: I get the same reaction off friends ‘ooh bet your husband loves it!’ Especially as pole is in bedroom (along with bar bells, weight bench, basically our bedroom is like a fitness studio with a bed in it, not a boudoir. Although I do have nice disco lights now).

For him, watching me pole is like watching me do ballet barre warm up or Pilates crunches or weights or chin ups: quite cool but not, you know, the stuff of a hot evening in.

I recommend low lights, nice knickers, sexy tune, bad ass heels and some rolling about showing off your ass whilst making hot eye contact and him sitting in a chair with a drink, not allowed to touch til you say so. That covers
most husband’s definition of a good night indoors with the wife.

Could it be that your friends have the rather stereotyped and inaccurate view that pole dancing is just to please men and consists of stripper bumping and grinding, and don’t realise that it’s a gymnastic and exhausting fitness discipline/aerial art form/strengthening challenge etc etc? If they think it’s just sexy strutting they might not understand why you wouldn’t feel comfortable sharing?

My husband is v supportive and impressed by my pole stuff (good job as I am obsessed and train a lot!) but doesn’t find it sexy. Veena’s Lap lessons were a big hit but no pole was used – just me slinking about in nice undies lol!

Don’t worry – yesterday was a rest day with just hand and forearm exercises and toe pointing! You’ve not missed out and you can easily do day 2 straight after day 3, plus the abs are very quick if you are doing that and can be slotted into 6 minutes, no need to warm up.
Missing one day doesn’t mean setting fire to the whole thing! Just pop it back in whenever.
Right, off to do day 3…

You watch the vid explaining the 30 day thing then look underneath where it says ‘next lesson’
It should be on your home page (unless you selected ‘hide 30 days’ previously)
https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view/50d407f6-6738-46d9-bca7-32260ac37250 here it is if you can’t see it.

Once you click next lesson you get Day 1
    Here it is https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view/50c8b3e9-73f4-4b88-99a6-6f640ac37250
You go through all the lessons which are Veena intro, basic warm up, forward/back scapula, pole squats, leg lifts, lunges, leg hook side crunch, butterfly stretch, pike stretch, lying thigh stretch.
Then it should load day 2 when you click next lesson.

    Hello
I found this site very helpful.
    http://countthekicks.org.uk/mums/your-babys-movements/
If concerned go see your OB/GYN or local hospital for monitoring baby and go in straight away – they would always rather reassure a pregnant woman by a simple monitoring than not. Good luck, thinking of you and little one.

I just had a good idea
    https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view/516c1112-2c90-424b-ac1c-46570ac37250
Veena has lots of beginner combos in her ‘routines and combos’ section and I am going to try and work through them all this month -on the left. Maybe right as well but concentrate on the left. So instead of boringly conditioning left, I get to learn new cool combo stuff – much more motivating for me.

That way I will have a load of good ideas and stuff to add into freestyle – and on my bad side – so I can still do hard tricks on my strongest side but have other stuff going on in reverse direction and hopefully my weak side will strengthen up so next month I can start learning my bad ass stuff on my new, improved left hand side.

One of the main reasons for starting the 30 day take off today is because I am so right-sided. I’m intermediate level with some advanced moves – but my left side is weak and I am at best clumsy at worst unsafe on the left. Because I’m guilty of playing to my strengths in the eagerness to nail the jade or whatever. Big mistake.

Now my one-sides habit is becoming not only tiresome but dangerous – if I need to get out of a move upside down spinning backwards I need to know I am safe and currently, I am not. I’m also getting repeat stress injuries.

Balance! Basics! It’s SO important! [smacks own hand]
